Founded in early 1998, the goal was to consistently put out records that would be loved and played by many in the house music community. Viva Recordings found success with its first debut from Johnny Fiasco and the with Rick Preston's Altruism EP, which gained notoriety when "Spring Fling" was featured on Mark Farina's San Francisco Sessions Vol.1. From these early releases the road was paved for Viva Recordings' success. Over the last few years we have been working on personal projects but now have decided to bring the label back and take the Viva name back. New Zealand producer and multi instrumentalist Lord Echo (aka Mike Fabulous) has been flexing his dual-mastery of 60's production techniques and modern dancefloor aesthetics for over a decade now, through a flowing blend of boogie-laced Funk, disco-primed Reggae, futuristic Soul, and timeless African rhythms.

Biography

Sonic Climax is an explosive combination of solid DJing skills, captivating tunes and a seasoned dynamic stage presence, pushing crowds to shift up gears and really loose themselves in dance. He's been named Master Music Journey Maker by friends, a description that resonates.


Growing up in a musical family in Germany, Bernd started playing drums and percussion as a kid. With the advent of electronic dance music he sold his drums to purchase turntables and a mixer in 1994.

Bernd soon found dance parties and festivals to be his natural habitat, where he could flourish and expand not just his, but also other's consciousness. Mostly active in the underground techno scene, he played countless gigs in Europe before moving to New Zealand in 2001 and subsequently shifted his focus to Psychedelic Trance.

Initially he focused his DJing on the more progressive side of Psy-trance, yet hugely enjoying ecstatic dancing to Full-on. 

In more recent years the Sonic Climax sound has clearly moved up to the 143-148 BPM Full-on range, and is colorful, mostly uplifting and highly energetic while still dropping down into more progressive territories every so often to create contrast ... and hence traction on the dance floor.

Bernd’s deep sense of rhythm combined with a keen analytical mind enable him to continually whip out lengthy, structured mixes creating a seamless journey for the crowd to dive into. Being a highly passionate dancer and not shy to express on stage, Sonic Climax truly inspires souls on the floor to join the mutual and abnormal freedom of movement that is THE DANCE !!

Sonic Climax is a regular feature at Lost In Paradise, Dimension and Trancevaders. He's headlined GWP Festival in New Caledonia, featured at the first four AUM Festivals, and going further back in time, Twisted Planet, Splore, Dreamweavers and Cyberculture to name a few. For a number of years he was also co-host and resident DJ at Rural Remix Productions.

His influence in the Auckland psy-scene really goes back a long way and spans the whole spectrum!
