Previously damaging dancefloors on the likes of Viper, Mac II, Allsorts and Renegade Hardware, here they make their Mainframe debut. Naturally each cut thrills, spills and kills in equal measure. The title track leads from the front. Slick and sleazy, everything about it purrs: from the sub-saturated pneumatic kicks to Ray Uptown’s commanding lyrics. Stripped back with menace, it’s an instant show-stopper.
‘Sleaze Disease’ follows. Following up their collaborative work on Grindhou5e, NC-17 and KC join forces once again for an all-out neuro groover. Armed with crisp sound designs and processes that ooze paranoia, it’s a dark journey into the dancefloor’s deepest quarters.
Up next: ‘We Rolling’. Decorated with endorsements from Bad Company’s Maldini, this gritty roller has already achieved serious form. With an instantly distinctive bass hook and turbo-charged dynamics, it’s an instant knock out from NC-17 and good friends Qo and Korosiv.
‘42nd Street’ flips with demonstrative iciness. Igniting with freezing old skool synths, the spine-melting sensation is soon switched as we’re shoved rudely into a vicious, wasp- like middy bassline. Peppered with a classic Goodfellas sample, the message is clear: everyone takes a beating sometimes. And this particular time, it’s your crowd.
Finally we hit ‘Soldiers’. An instant stepback to jungle’s fertile formative era, it’s the perfect finale: sharp and subby, rough and rolling, it’s a robust salute to the very foundations drum & bass was built on. The type of tune your dancefloor recognises without even hearing, we guarantee some serious rudeboy reactions on every drop.

A self-described ‘messed up rhythmist’, the
dark and dense musical world and frequencies
of Impak is something which many drum & bass
fans will be familiar with. The individual wave
forms he created always get their own time to
talk. His high levels of bass modulation, as well
as his weird digital textures have drawn in a
global audience which will be waiting for this next release with a keen ear. The international DJ/producer, born out of Spain, explores his digital evolution within each one of his tracks. Technology is the key and his conceptual miscegenation is the tool in which he does this. It’s a way in which he’s explored clubs and festivals in over ten different countries, playing in as many as fifty cities around Europe. His residency in Spain’s Industrial Copera gained him international attention and after releasing on a wide range of record labels, he’s had over twenty releases on the market.
All these numbers are dizzying for an artist, even for one who’s been in the game of production since he was seventeen years old. So, it comes as little surprise that he’d come under the radar of C4C, a genre changing imprint which has been running for over two decades. Having already collaborated with one of its head honchos Optiv, he’s about to unleash his ‘Perceptions’ LP on the C4C imprint.
Featuring ten colossal tracks, from the crashing drum work of ‘Global’, right through to the tech-driven madness of ‘Unhappy End’, Impak goes for the jugular. Collaborations such as Impak and Kung’s ‘Anywhere’, Impak, Optiv and CZA’s ‘Neurons’ and Impact and The Clamps ‘Passengers’ bring a host of other mainstay names into the mix. Whilst standalone records ‘Tremor’ and ‘Mastodon’ continue the harmonic highs and slamming breakdowns which Impak has become renowned for. All-in, the ‘Perceptions’ album is a massive catalogue of work. For it to be made welcome in the home of C4C makes total sense. With their commitment to changing the musical landscape and high-arching production, the combination of C4C and Impak music was a match which they knew would send shockwaves throughout the wider scene.

‘Between Worlds’, the EP’s title-track. Step by step the build-up grows more and more overbearing, with its zapping blasts of LFO followed by thumping kicks. It is a commanding cut and one which encapsulates what TR Tactics represents on the dancefloor.
