Showcasing their next release, Sinful Maze exposes a gem of an artist Chiyu. Settled in Osaka, Japan, Chiyu reveals her perplexing and deranged nature with a monstrous 4-track release at the prodigiously young age of 18. Mark Sin was gracious enough to reach out and get a few insights from Chiyu for us. She's been producing Drum and Bass for just a year now, she started experimenting in music-making mashups in 2018. and only started producing properly in 2019 mainly making Dubstep. 2020 marked the formal start of her Drum and Bass production. Growing up she listened to a lot of EDM, especially Virtual Riot. Aside from Drum & Bass she is also inspired by many other genres such as Future Bass, Dubstep, Techno, and Kpop as well. Just this year she graduated high school and is now studying graphic design at college. Due to her busy schedule with college, she plans on taking a break from music for quite some time… That being said her inevitable return to music will be fondly anticipated as we’re enthralled by the latest EP 'Vyior'.

Today, we're ecstatic to premiere her track 'Chasm’' an in-house favorite from the release at Rendah HQ.

Lacuna's rebirth as a producer is marked by the Transmute EP. Since his last album, Skeng, he has been delving further into sound design and attempting to be more expressive in his hip hop-inspired bass music. Following the covid shutdown, he travelled all around India, from mountains to oceans, which helped him carve out greater sophistication in both his music and himself.

He claims, "My method has gotten slower and deeper, with a strong connection to what I'm trying to achieve musically and the surroundings I'm in. The Transmute EP rhythms began in the mountains, concluded near the coast, and now that I'm back in the mountains, I'm ready to share them with everyone."

Borrowing from Hip-Hop and Bass culture, Lacuna carves out his spot as India’s most notable rising star as he gains the attention of The Wild City and Bangin’ Beats with his releases being played across India’s club and festival scene including NH7 Weekender, Ziro Festival, Bass Camp Festival and Boxout Weekender and has shared stages with a number of international artists including Daedelus, Compa, and Loefah to name a few.

"This album was inspired entirely by the world that exists parallel to ours, beneath the surface of the ocean.  While it was the appalling pollution clogging bodies of water across the globe that originally motivated me to create this work, it was what I discovered in my research for the record that really blew me away. The unimaginable depth, the infinite darkness, the undiscovered areas, and otherworldly species, it all really struck me.

Over the course of 2 years, I wrote and recorded this project in my studio in Heerlen. Working with, and without intention, getting lost, finding focus, it was a real journey.  

The 2 collaborators (Warrior Queen and d00p)featured on my record added exactly what i was looking for, and the artwork by Fragment:Flow creator, Paul Fennell, ties it all together beautifully.
