This is another “folk" approach to a cover song, in this case an all-time Motown favorite originally popularized by a 1968 collaboration of the Supremes and the Temptations (written by Gamble & Huff and Jerry Ross). Hard to match the vocal excellence of those two awesome groups but I just put a spin on it to channel the awesome emotive nature of the song. Got a little out of my comfort zone but for a base file done on my iPhone and with some grand help from my partner in music, Nat Daniels (piano & bass & production), I like the outcome.

This song is about the inherent selfishness of choosing to stay blind to the injustices that marginalized people face every day. It is about choosing to ignore those injustices because your privilege allows you to ignore them, and it’s easier to turn a blind eye and bury your head in the sand. It is a wake-up call to the people of the world to check your privilege and to never stop fighting for justice for all people until we are all free!
