Adam ‘Da Believa’ is a Kootenay, BC based DJ who has been exploring the depths of the global sound system music culture over the past 6 years. Recently having been taken on apart of Sub Chakra, one of Calgary's leading promotions, he participates in harnessing the potential of connection through sound system music, hosting local events involving both locals and international headliners. His recent residency further involves him in becoming a conduit for the music culture.



 A performance from Da Believa are influenced by the more archaic, ancient, eastern and worldly sounds, focused on a deep-end, low-frequency, bass driven dubstep and half-time drum & bass palette. Molding together elements of depth and energy tailored to deliver a conscious message, taking the listener on a spiritual journey deep into the blend of music. The combined influences of both organic, natural sounds, as well as those sounds representing the forward motion of music through electronic representation. Drawing creativity from the likes of Kalya Scintilla’s spiritually activated music, to the deep, bass driven sounds of Biome, Da Believa entails a sound that transcends multiple tempos and emotions. Prior to embarking on an excursion into bass music, Adam Da Believa has gathered inspiration from artists like The Roots, Michael Franti, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley and the legendary dub sounds of King Tubby. The underlying root in a performance from Da Believa remains one that will fortify a sense of love. While stimulating movement and stirring up a conscious connection to the frequencies.

Jonny Ng - better known as Syntax has been immersed in soundsystem culture for nearly 10 years. From creative writer for UK based dubstep label/blog Trusik, to curator, operator and selector of Calgary based crew Sub Chakra. One who takes great pride in his selections, Syntax stays true to the craft by DJing exclusively on vinyl records where he demonstrates his candid ear and precision mixing.

Inspired by traditional reggae/dub and moved by modern day electronic music, Syntax specializes in all-out soundsystem music - from upbeat UK steppas to low-end dubstep pressure. With emphasis on culture, conscious sounds and music with substance, few DJ’s mix, blend and draw as deep as Syntax.

With notable performances at Bass Coast, Astral Harvest and Wicked Woods, the last year has seen Syntax honing in on his sound while continuing to build his arsenal of vinyl selections and dubplate cuts - always focused on taking the dancefloor through his unique journey.
