Mind of Gaia is a musical project that fuses dark, ethereal, and tribal sounds with hard-hitting bass and intricate percussion. Born from a deep passion for travel, cultural exploration, and sonic experimentation, Mind of Gaia reflects a journey through both sound and experience.
The music thrives on simplicity, allowing each element to speak for itself. By embracing minimalism, each track becomes a living entity, evolving as it grows, but never straying too far from the original idea. Hypnotic tribal rhythms blend seamlessly with deep basslines and a heavy percussive focus—drawing inspiration from the artist’s background as a drummer.
Behind the decks, Mind of Gaia takes on a new dimension, delivering high-energy, meticulously curated sets that keep listeners on their toes. Known for his unpredictability and dynamic performances, no two sets are ever the same. Having graced stages at numerous events and festivals across Canada, Mind of Gaia has expanded his reach internationally, performing at festivals in Colombia and Thailand alongside some of the underground electronic scene's most renowned artists.
This passion project continues to evolve, with Mind of Gaia seeing significant success in recent months through international performances. The next chapter unfolds with a highly anticipated EP slated for release in Spring 2025 on the legendary underground dubstep label, Monsters Music (UK).

Jonny Ng - better known as Syntax has been immersed in soundsystem culture for nearly 10 years. From creative writer for UK based dubstep label/blog Trusik, to curator, operator and selector of Calgary based crew Sub Chakra. One who takes great pride in his selections, Syntax stays true to the craft by DJing exclusively on vinyl records where he demonstrates his candid ear and precision mixing.

Inspired by traditional reggae/dub and moved by modern day electronic music, Syntax specializes in all-out soundsystem music - from upbeat UK steppas to low-end dubstep pressure. With emphasis on culture, conscious sounds and music with substance, few DJ’s mix, blend and draw as deep as Syntax.

With notable performances at Bass Coast, Astral Harvest and Wicked Woods, the last year has seen Syntax honing in on his sound while continuing to build his arsenal of vinyl selections and dubplate cuts - always focused on taking the dancefloor through his unique journey.
