Excited to be hosting a b2b between two important figures for a special next addition in our NSMA-MIX series. @banoffee-pies head honcho @autumn-bpr goes b2b with @jessica_dj of the @rhythm_sister collective for a spin down memory lane, as they re-visit their Drum & Bass roots. 

Long-affiliated with the Bristolian underground, the duo founded @headroom_dance Festival just around the corner in Abergavenny, Wales in 2019. The festival has a forward-facing policy which makes a conscious effort to create an inclusive dancefloor by weighting ticket distribution heavily towards women, trans and non-binary folk. 

Both known for their wide and eclectic crates, sink into this as we welcome in the weekend 🥁

NSMA-MIX-018 | Jessica b2b DJ Autumn

The mix series and music platform Mantissa takes its first steps into the label space with Mantissa 001. Written and produced by a close friend to the Mantissa family, this unnamed and elusive artist has begun the label with a bang, three club focused, space inspired tracks designed to decimate a dancefloor or atone a night's shenanigans at an after's.
Space Cadet opens the extra-terrestrial affair, weaving from acoustic elements to electronic and eclectic synth lines. Frozen Bounce finalising the A side with a wobbly number, woven together with quick cuts and jerky elements. U10A, the most structured of a complex affair, is a warming club tool perfect for both beginning and finishing an evening. It's remix similarly suitable for any party specific scenario, produced by the infamously talented artist Ciel.

The idea behind the takeover is that I’m going to be taking you on a day in my UFO, to many different planets each exploring a different genre. We’ll be starting somewhere deep under the Drexciyan sea with an electro set courtesy of Gunfinger Food & Mixtress. We’ll gradually head to space for Dr Watson’s set and make it all the way to Tres-2b, the darkest planet in the universe, for eXpressO’s set. After that we’re gonna start heading back to Earth for sunrise, listening to Jake Walker’s set along the way. We’ll make it to London for a day of UK bass, Garage & Funky. Once we finish up in London, we’ll make our way back to space with Dr Baird, Seven Hills Records, Tañ & Rough. We go back to the dark planet for an industrial techno & electro finish. While creating the track "Stay with me," I aimed to build a strong Drum & Bass rhythm. I carefully selected the drum and bass elements to create an energetic and memorable foundation. I tried to keep the melody simple yet impactful, so it could convey both movement and emotion to the listener. My inspiration came from everyday life and the relationships around me; therefore, the track creates an atmosphere that invites you to dance while carrying an intimate feeling.

Livity Sound welcomes Joe Milli to the fold with an assured EP of crisp club workouts that land between techno's evocative depth and UK funky's offbeat, drum-focused functionality. 

Over the past few years Milli has been establishing his sound across a swathe of radio shows, guest mixes and releases, and he lands on Livity with a timeless take on the label's commitment to stripped back, atmospheric soundsystem music. 

There's variety across the Deep Forest EP, ranging from the balmy bassweight house of the title track to the deep-diving dub pulses and bruk drum science of 'Look Again'. 'Keep That Wire' draws nervous energy from its synth hooks and the taut, angular beat before the rolling Detroit techno pulse of 'Expressions' brings the EP home in punchy, percussion-loaded style. 

In line with past releases from the likes of Bakongo, DJ Polo and Tribal Brothers, Milli's strength lies in his ability to bend the UK funky formula to different styles, all precision-tooled for the club.
