First mix of the new year goes to Chicago underground legend Noshaluv. As the brains & talent behind weekly mix show 'Nice Night For a Jam', Nosha was streaming sets well before it became the en vogue thing to do in quarantine. Her talent and love of music are evident in every set she plays. 

Out the gate we are hit with cuts that only the deepest of diggers can get hold of. The funk is next level on this one. A variety of disco, funk, and deep cuts, this is what the Chicago underground sounds like. Enjoy!

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝘿𝙅𝙞𝙣𝙜?
I started a show in 2007 with my Ex-husband called "Nice Night 4 A Jam". After our split I decided to keep it going but it was difficult (due to the fact that I was single and because I had moved) to get DJs to come and do the show. So I began doing the shows all by myself. Before I would play a selection of music for the first half of the show and the guest DJ would come and close it out. But now I began taking on both jobs. It was a labor of love. And I rather enjoyed doing it because there wasn't any pressure. And now the rest is history. 

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙞𝙣𝙛𝙡𝙪𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨?
At the beginning my inspiration started with DJ Rush. I grew up listening and going to his parties. My stepfather would be next. He had this amazing record collection that I loved playing at an  early age. It crossed so many genres and trained my ear to what it is today. My favorite genres are broken beat, afrobeat, jazz fusion and disco.  

𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙮?
Underground dark loft style building with a large room of flashing lights and a bass heavy vibes. Plenty of people dancing and sweating to a fusion of Disco Boogie Soul and Funk with heavy tracks thrown in here and there. 

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 (𝙤𝙧 𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨) 𝙤𝙛 𝙞𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙤𝙧 𝙜𝙡𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙡 𝙨𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙚?
More diversity . Right now all I see is a bunch of White mostly men headlining the DJ arena. And it's sad because I know of so many talented brothers and sisters that rock so much harder than the current cats I see on the scene. And also the music they  play is so boring and repetitious.

Go for it and don't let fear or nervousness hold you back. You have an awesome ear and you have a passion that will transcend your skills.
