On this day, the 25th anniversary of Stevie Ray Vaughn's death, I wanted to recognize the huge influence Stevie has had on me and so many other inspired musicians here.   Stevie was one of the greatest blues guitarists ever, combining super rhythm playing, strong vocals, flair, and an aggressive soloing that followed the pentatonic based approach that Jimi Hendrix used, often with serious distortion, superb wah wah, and a unique ability to bend notes.  SRV had it all - until his untimely death in a helicopter crash following a blues festival in Wisconsin, where Eric Clapton was almost on the helicopter too.

So I've put together an extensive collection of blues from many of my favorite musicians here, all of whom have been deeply inspired by the music and genius of Stevie Ray. Many of these tracks I am playing keyboards on and others have been selected because of their blues authenticity and influence by SRV.  Friends included on this collection are:

The Texas Bluebell Blues - featuring Tom Adams (Weekend Open Collab)

Mike Orzek and I thought we'd break out some blues here, and created this 12 Bar blues to let off a little steam.  (12 am Bar Blues).  It's the standard form for the blues, and we've got a lot of guitar and organ in this one.  Mike has done so many fine collaborations with people on SoundCloud, and his command and understanding of the blues is impressive.  Some of that is from his years living in Dallas, Texas, where he lived just a few blocks from a serious blues bar and was able to perform there regularly.

I love to play guitar and making music. Doesn't matter how good you are. Music is a beautiful expression of yourself, its a piece of art, emotions and it brings people together. Anyway my father drove my mother nuts in the seventies with jimi songs on a phonograph record while she was pregnant with me. Some of jimis sound and music stuck with me after i was born and i like it since then. Im inspired by a lot of guitarists/musicians...hard to name em all right here. Beside Jimi i like guitarplayers like Johny Lee Hooker, Eric Clapton, SRV, Walter Trout, Jeff Healey, Mark Knophler, Jimmy Page, Guthrie Govan, Alex Hutchings, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, BB King, Sam Cooke, Muddy Waters, Toni Abasi, Matt Scofield, Robben Ford, Joe Walsh, Philip Sayce, Kurt Cobain, Brian May, Jeffrey Lee Pierce, Joe Bonamassa, KWS, Lenny Kravitz, John Frusciante, David Gilmour etc...Most of all i like to play the blues, blues rock, funk, psychedelic rock, and rock.
