Political power -- armed central authority, with states and war -- is it part of human nature? Is it necessary for human communities? Or is it a tool that ruling elites use to live at the expense of communities? A tool that does violence to human nature and the world?

Engines of Domination offers a theory of political power as a tool for making tools of human beings -- an engine that converts human energy into authority and privilege for the rulers. Invented in the Bronze Age, brilliantly refined for six thousand years, today the engine has caused a human emergency that threatens to destroy our world.

This documentary makes a powerful argument that there is only one way to save the future. Armed central authority must be abolished, giving way to a world of peaceful voluntary communities -- in other words, an argument for anarchism.

From the creators of Unveiled and Lifted comes a visual adaptation of Mark Corske's book Engines of Domination.

Greg Haines - The Spin

my contribution to kate Carr's listen to the weather project listentotheweather
and <a href="http://www.listentotheweather.com" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://www.listentotheweather.com</a> I made a number of recording of rain ranging for light drissel to torrential downpours in various locations (woodland to four in the morning in central Birmingham) these were then looped to make the backing track. I then used "Weep You No More, Sad Fountains" by John Downland as my source material, taking pitch references from the line "softly lies sleeping" I replaced these with some of my own processed vocal samples, which I then used in my custom software and improvised over the field recording. Exuding a few edit and minor overdubs this track was recored live. weather recordings 1/8/10, 6/5/10, 27/2/10, and 28/3/10

The title track from my debut self-released in 2012. The track is a biographical piece about the small pockets of time and space in which we (wife & I) had to pursue our creative dreams.  Also with the small moments of hope, progression and fulfilment in this, often writing or composing in the corner of a bedroom in the small hours. Now we have children this has become even smaller and yet we find we do more writing than ever before.

My work has a strong interest in systems and generative processes in art and music - I have developed a number of software applications which allow me to work with these processes in a live performance environment. I usually work from heavily processed samples of live instruments and field recordings - Although there is a strong systems based element in my work, I tend to work though a process of improvisation with the samples in real time to generate the work. I aim to create immersive work which gradually develops over time and creates a sense of space and place,and generates a strong emotional response in the listener.
