- Mankind’s innate nature to love and enjoy the companionship of others.
- The varying levels and types of people in relation to their manners and adherence to the dīn. 
- “Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous.” [Sūrah az-Zukhruf 43: 67]
- “And the Day the wrongdoer will bite on his hands [in regret] he will say, ‘Oh, I wish I had taken with the Messenger a way. Oh, woe to me! I wish I had not taken so-and-so as a friend. He led me away from the remembrance after it had come to me. And ever is Shayṭān to man, a deserter.’” [Sūrah al-Furqān 25: 27-29]
- The story of how wicked companionship caused ‘Uqbah b. Abī Mu’īṭ to return to paganism after embracing Islām.

The Importance of Choosing Good Companionship By Abu Khadeejah

The khuṭbah at Masjid al-Furqān (TROID) on 2022.07.15 that preceded the 2022 summer conference entitled: Singling Out the Truth Amidst a Sea of Falsehood. Shaykh Kāshiff Khān mentions numerous ayāt and ḥadīth about the blessing of following the Sunnah and clinging to it amidst a sea of misguidance. 

Narrated Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "You will follow the ways of those nations who were before you, span by span and cubit by cubit (i.e., inch by inch) so much so that even if they entered a hole of a mastigure, you would follow them." We said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! (Do you mean) the Jews and the Christians?" He said, "Whom else?" Saḥiḥ al-Bukhārī 7320

Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:

– The trials that the youth face from desires.
– Indoctrination that girls and boys are the same.
– Fitnah of women are a great trial.
– Allah says: {Beautified for men is the love of things they covet; women, children, much of gold and silver (wealth), branded beautiful horses, cattle and well-tilled land} [Surah Āl-Imrān: 3:14].
