The "Shampoo Art Song" draws its text from the ingredients list of my everyday shampoo. It was an exercise in text setting, as well as creating momentum and drama through loosely structured nonsense. Premiere performance by vocalist Eddie Spear and pianist Hannah Mohr, 30 April 2022, Rosch Recital Hall.

Hydroxypropyltrimonium

Quilt of Feathers was written in the spring of 2023. The work explores a tapestry of colors and characters. An initial blur of independent bird calls and murmurs coalesces as various instruments join in with their song. Traveling through a variety of environments, the call is passed on and shaped as it journeys. Having grown substantially inn number, united in their song, they finally take off and fly into the horizon.

This audio is a mix of the opening of the work recorded by the CIM Orchestra under the direction of Jake Taniguchi, and a MIDI mockup.

Quilt of Feathers

Event Horizon, composed in Fall of 2019, is a work for Solo Organ which traces the life cycle of a star. It opens with a massive depiction of the big bang before following the growth of a star over millions of years and its eventual collapse into a black hole. This piece was performed in King Concert Hall of Fredonia, NY on a Schlicker Pipe Organ with assistance from Brandon Brinkerhoff, Ian Cody, and Sean Penzo.

Event Horizon

This piece, a short work for saxophone quartet, was written in Fall of 2018 for a Beginning Composition class. The piece features a minimalist and quasi- mechanical ostinato which underlies the melodic growth over the course of the piece. This, combined with the regularly shifting, asymmetrical meter, gives the effect of an industrial foundry hard at work. The piece was recorded at the end of summer, 2019 in Todd Hobin Studios with the help of Brett Hobin and Nathan Catell. The track was later mastered by Graham Wolfe.

Waiting for You was written in the Spring of 2020 as a submission to a call for one minute scores hosted by Martina Jembrišak. I wrote the piece during the coronavirus pandemic as I found myself missing friends and family. The piece is dedicated to everyone who is in that same boat as a result of the lockdowns. Here's to seeing those people we're waiting for again soon.
