Mathias D. Clain - West Flanders, Belgium, born 1984.

I love modular synths (I own two systems), the TR-909 drum machine, electric organs and various acoustic instruments like the flute, clarinet and other sounds found in my orchestral keyboard like classical guitar, oboe etc.

My passion for Minimal Dance, mainly played on the TR-909 drum machine, sequenced analog or modular synths and keyboards, shines through most of my works. On the side I also explore spiritual soundscapes and drones that connect with World Music. My work is mostly and usually played "live" in the studio, meaning that I do not use the computer to create music. I may sometimes add one overdub. For more delicate drone work I may use the computer more often but certainly not for my dance material, these are always live played.

DJ sets go more beyond musically since all artists have their expertises and practiced their own craft for so long and have their individual sound signatures in the music. I hope to become better at playing a few more instruments (the cello for example) than the main ones I have mentioned. 

I have built a sort of zither which I call the 'Violin Harp' and built as well a beautiful waterphone. These instruments are two more that I play often.
