Championed by Craig Charles on BBC 6 Music in the UK, Jamie and The Numbers produce a fine array of powerful and passionate funked up soul music….New single ‘What When How Or Why’ is mixed by Birmingham DJ/Producer Lee Fisher (famous for producing the classic 90’s dance track Mother ‘All Funked Up’) and has all the hallmarks of a classic floor filler.....so we say get on the floor under the disco ball and dance with the funky kiwis.


Jamie and The Numbers

Jamie Musuva is a wonderfully gifted Tongan - Kiwi, the 30-year-old singer is based in Wellington and she can often be seen singing soul tunes for Tapestry Promotions at many of their Music Reviews or at Church singing in the local Gospel Choir.

It was at one of the Tapestry shows in Wellington that Jamie met Simon bass player from The Numbers and after a brief chat it was suggested they do some recording together.

After recording and releasing a cover of the Northern Soul classic "If This Is Love" and selling out the vinyl singles in next to no time they decided to release a 2nd single "Magic Touch" which sold out almost twice as fast.

The soul music record-buying public in the UK have embraced Jamie and The Numbers and subsequently they have attracted the attention of several UK-based record labels and publishers one of which they signed a deal with.

New track ‘What When How Or Why’ is a funked up stormer which highlights Jamies vocal clarity, power, and incredible feel, to quote Simon "Jamie has a voice that could fell a tree".

For the record The Numbers is an incredibly tight Wellington Mod band usually consisting of three brothers from Wainuiomata and a newly adopted Kiwi originally from Birmingham England. They are session musicians working and touring with many UK artists , they are also songwriters in their own right publishing 40+ songs with UK publishers...but currently the band's true passion is producing uplifting Northern Soul tunes with their good friend and powerhouse singer Jamie.

In classic Stylie fashion, the beat hits hard right from the top, fusing into funko-rock ear candy, driven by mystery melodies with disturbing mumbling synthed-out backing vocals. That’s just the first verse, seriously!

The beat hits harder and the flow morphs, as the song winds its confused path through a key change, lyrics start to pop up out from Stylie and Broomwatr (on lyrical assist). “All your life you’ve been a fighter, tried so hard, and sacrificed” and “All this time, sitting right next to me, starin’ at the walls, somehow some-why, you needed me, I didn’t breathe it”. All the while the listener hears a cacophonic backdrop of days-gone-past choral wonder, as Stylie soulfully croons through a bridge and closes the tune out as it starts, with 4 hard hits and a cry about the nature of the beast in all of us
