A triumphant return to old form after classic bangers like PROTOTYPE (KOMPAKT 92), FREQUENCY (KOMPAKT 102) or MAXIMIZE (KOMPAKT 145), but also a bold step in a new sonic direction: Kompakt ally REX THE DOG presents his latest offering SICKO - a brand new 12" packed with two incorruptible rabble- rousers that hit the floor right behind the ears, employing sharply focussed thrust and dramatic sweeps to stunning effect.
Having started out with just one synth in 2004 - the same vintage Korg 700S that was used by Mute Records founder Daniel Miller for his legendary "Warm Leatherette" outing -, REX THE DOG knows perfectly well how to squeeze the most out of a limited set of sounds. A growing intimacy with analog gear finally lead the producer to design and build his very own array of modular synthesizer components, including a sampler fittingly called RTD-001.
Armed with this barn-storming DIY attitude, and using gear he made with his own hands, Rex pulls two strikingly muscular rabbits out of his hat: the A-side's title cut SICKO is a raw, pounding cut-up fest that builds a scary amount of tension just with a few distinct elements, while the flipside's KORGASMOTRON loads up its bleep-ridden chassis with a succulent, sweeping vocal and some well-placed acid drops. Both tracks showcase a leaner, cleaner, but also meaner approach to dance music, making this a particularly thrilling entry in REX THE DOG's oeuvre.

Octave One announce their new album under the much loved Random Noise Generation guise. The first RNG release was 'Falling in Dub' in 1991 and sounding just as fresh 27 years later, ‘Endustry’ is due for release this spring. 

Something of a new take on their creative process the Burden brothers made most of this music on the road while they toured over the past year, using the country they were in at each time they recorded to influence and inspire each track. “We were tucked away in so many hotel rooms that we decided to make sure we brought enough extra equipment so that we could set up a true lab to create from country to country and make the grooves that we wanted to experiment with on the dance floor.” comments Lawrence.

This body of work encompasses 7 full length cuts, naturally all with that classic Octave One emotion. “'Alkaylze', more than any of tracks on this project, embraced the original spirit of Random Noise Generation in so much as the “machine” seemed to be really guide the creative process.” Adds Lenny “Much of the foundation of the composition was very accidental, but inspirational, with various musical devices interpreting data in a very unexpected results. It actually came together quite quickly but things just fell into place so naturally.” 

After touring and making music for decades the spirit and essential energy of the craft is what keeps them eternally inspired to keep creating and touring the globe… ”Once it takes hold of you you can’t stop even if you wanted to.” says the pair, and so 'Endustry' is born.

Matt Walsh’s inter­est in DJing and pro­duc­tion was fos­tered in the late 1990′s, while he was at uni­ver­si­ty and pro­gres­sive house was at its peak. Fast-for­ward a cou­ple of years, a new decade her­ald­ed the birth of Elec­tro­clash and with it DJ Hell’s Gigo­lo Records, City Rock­ers and Play­house. As Matt began to devel­op his trade­mark sound of mod­ern dis­co-infused elec­tron­ic house and tech­no, an offer of a res­i­den­cy at East London’s sem­i­nal T‑Bar club set off a chain of events that would lead to Tur­bo Record­ings don Tiga spot­ting him there in 2007. He then became a long term res­i­dent of Bugged Out! and Tur­bo and has since toured the globe alone and with oth­er artists.

Matt’s record label, Cloud­ed Vision Record­ings has seen releas­es from tal­ent from all cor­ners, includ­ing Red Axes, long term friend Daniel Avery and many more. His two mixed com­pi­la­tions “The Cloud­ed Vision Exper­i­ment” received crit­i­cal acclaim from Mix­mag, GQ and DJ Mag.

Since relo­cat­ing to Mar­gate in 2017, Matt has been busy opening The Tap Room and has trans­formed one of Margate’s secret spots into a boom­ing small bar, where you can expect to see local and trav­el­ling DJs play­ing every week, as well as a great mix of cock­tails and craft beer.



In 2023 Matt reignited his old clubnight "Movement" which was originally formed with Daniel Avery back in 2011. The new version is held quarterly at Faith In Strangers, Margate and the first three sold out parties have seen Erol Alkan, Daniel Avery , Optimo and Richard Fearless join Matt on the decks for the night. August will welcome Manfredas to Margate for the first time and some very exciting collaborations are to follow in 2025.
