We head to Istanbul for our next mix, and it comes from Ece Özel. A key figure on her native scene thanks to her Ozel Zevkler party and residency at MiniMüzikhol, she is celebrated for her weird and wonderful take on electronic music.  It’s won her the attention of Boiler Room, and encompasses experimental, lo-fi, ambient, acid and plenty of oddities in between, but all ties together thanks to the underlying sense of mood. Ece will be representing at Dekmantel Festival in August, so you can really get to grips with her sound. 

Before that comes her podcast for our series, and it’s one that builds suspense slowly but surely with sparse, stripped back rhythms that always twist and turn. There’s wonky techno next to kaleidoscopic electronic house, crisp new wave joined to unhinged drum tracks and even hands in the air disco. Always tied together by an occult and unsettling sense of being on the edge, it’s a a set with Özel’s notably unhinged aesthetic stamped all over it.

RA will return to host the GAIN stage at DGTL Amsterdam at the end of March.

13 acts will perform at GAIN BY RA across the two days. On Saturday, CC:DISCO! joins Honey Dijon, Mano Le Tough, Oceanic, Philou Louzolo and Australian house sensation Mall Grab, who'll go back-to-back with rising UK artist Or:la. The Sunday is similarly loaded with house and disco acts, as Phonox resident HAAi lines up alongside Oberman, Man Power, Nathan Fake (who will play live), Nightmares On Wax and Tom Trago (who'll play a disco set).

Ahead of his set for RA, Dutch selector Oceanic treats us to a mix that explores the full range of his repertoire.

Most people don't really figure out how HKS97 belongs to ://about blank but it's still obvious that he is just as much part of this club as the red caravan in the garden. Research brought to light that he actually worked as a writer for events at ://about blank. And of course often, but not often enough, he steps behind the DJ decks of his favorite club as well. Together with Yobovski he earned some fame with with the Leftfield and Dance music project Freude am Sitzen, named in reference to a, back then well known, Tech-House label from Thuringia. Today his musical journeys explore Electro, Breakbeat, House and Synth Wave territories while his love for sinister Ambient sounds shines through from time to time.
