@priori-ties is an alias of Montréal-based Québecois musician, Francis Latreille. In 2019, he released the thematic full length ‘On A Nimbus’ for his own label NAFF (which he runs with Ex-Terrestrial), showcasing the breadth and scope of his production. The more recent ‘SCN’ EP released on Canadian label DustWORLD, further strengthened his sound and showed the hypnotic potential of his music. Since then, he has kept exploring different avenues, releasing the uplifting trance single ‘Infinity’ and a series of thrillingly rugged tracks under his RED alias. 

Since its inception in 2018, NAFF's uncompromising releases have shown Latreille’s eccentrically-tuned ear for curation – this managed to land them in Mixmag's Best Labels of 2018 list. The young label shows no signs of stopping, having recently released a string of refreshing records by fellow Canadian artists Ambien Baby, URA & Maara. 

Known to be an avid collaborator, Latreille is involved in a number of projects including Jump Source, M.S.L., New World Science, Healion, ANF and more. His knack for textural sounds and his technical proficiency in the studio have led him to work on numerous projects by fellow artists (Ex-Terrestrial, Roza Terenzi, D. Tiffany, Escape Artist, Gene Tellem, to name a few). Whether live or as a DJ, Priori brings a uniquely hypnotic sound that sustains a dance floor while creating an atmosphere informed by the worlds of science fiction and fantasy that are so dear to him.

To celebrate 20 years of building Labyrinths, we have decided to release one set from each of the last ten years. I've chosen ten timeless moments that both document the history of the event and provide a historical snapshot of underground electronic music over the past ten years.

We have chosen a broad range--from closing techno sets, to morning ambient sets, to experimental sets to close the night. Each set represents a different side of the event. Taken together, they present a portrait of a decade of music.

for this week’s 909 podcast we welcome naarm/melbourne based dj & producer, al dente who serves up a delicious mix curated for home listening sessions. showcasing a slower, softer side to his collection, al dente was inspired to curate this mix by the setting that he enjoys listening to them the most in - cooking. still nodding to his signature spacey, chuggy and bubbly soundscapes, the mix comes with a minimal, techy edge. 

the 2024 release of al dente’s ‘the second cousin’ on animalia has become a firm favourite of mine - at least one track from the ep is always playlisted for sets. it’s a shining explain of what has drawn me to al dente’s sound over the past year, a contemporary take on a club-roller that’s super deep and futuristic whilst drawing from influences of early 2000s minimal. a dreamy combo! alongside that animalia release, al dente has released on the likes of pure space, beam, dmo, the space between us, and neurocrank - the latter being a platform & collective that al dente is a part of.

Soulful, breezy and groove-laden, softi's Patterns of Perception 122 shimmers with her kaleidoscopic, minimal sound. Weightless sparks float and flicker in dim light. Time dilates; seasons drift.

A few thoughts from Jasmin:

Hey Jasmin, how’s it going? What's been happening for you lately?
I’m well, I’m currently living between Lisbon and London this summer which has been a dream! Great food, beach sessions and writing music. It’s been a wild 3 months and I’m just getting myself ready for the seasons changing!

What can you tell us about your mix?
For this mix I wanted to mould my love of groovy minimal and psychedelic tones for the moody season ahead, which is usually my signature sound! I have been producing a lot of this recently and some of my unreleased bits are exclusively inside 💜

⁠Is there a track or tracks that are extra special for you?
I’d probably say my own productions are the special to me as it reminds me of how much I have developed as a producer and artist. I love connecting with the tracks and being able to create my own atmospheric world for listeners to get lost in. But one track that I always come back to is "bluep" by Underground City Loop (a producer from Aus). I have been playing this track for years and it has every sonic element you'd want from a track - low end sub groove with dark melodic synths.

Kosta Athanassiadis, Germany's XDB who has been DJing since the early 90s, after years of working in a record shop he launched his own label Metrolux in 2006. His music heading in a direction that ranges from deep and soulful house to raw, analogue sounding dub techno remixing some Detroit heroes as Norm Talley and Aaron Carl. Kosta’s DJ sets draw upon his expansive record collection, playing right across the board of electronic music. He has no shortage of technical skill but it’s his selection that truly shines.

His DJing keeps him in the public eye, but one gets the sense that XDB prefers to operate in the shadows. There’s a refreshing lack of gimmickry to his approach – keeping it low-key allows him to be judged solely on the basis of talent. Arguably, it’s an innate quality – the way he wants to play it; the way that brings him most satisfaction, but it’s helped establish his reputation as an artist of considerable merit, winning the approval his audience and peers, alike.

He performed DJing house/techno/progressive house and more in his college student days and 
started house/techno/progressive house/ambient track productions from 2007 in earnest. He make
various styles tracks while being based on the deep/melodic atmosphere.

 He released his first digital EP on Australian progressive house label 'Bellarine Recordings'
in 2008 and has released many tracks from many domestic and foreign labels afterwards.
Then he released his first vinyl on 'Atmospheric Existence Recordings' that the UK's 'Miles Sagnia' 
label in 2013 and got many supports from vinyl lovers. And he changed his release to vinyl mainly 
from digital format.

 From 2014 he started new projects under the name - 'Tominori Hosoya'. This project has a concept 
to make musical pieces for 'important persons, things and memories and more...' On the extension, 
he started his own label 'TH Pressing' in the same year. This label's first EP that is released 
on Japan precedence - 'Tominori Hosoya - Dear My Father' got No. 1 in Brothers' Vibe's chart and 
many supports from many big names. Also many great artists joined on - Rennie Foster, Ernie, Brad P,
Life Recorder, Anaxander, John Shima, Rai Scott, Takuya Yamashita, Allstarr Motomusic & Manuel Costela.

 He received much release offers with that release as a start from the inside and outside the country.
He have vinyl releases on following labels - deepArtSounds, Minuendo Recordings, Mixx Records, 
Suspected Music, Bucketround, medium, Soul Print Recordings, Soiree Records, Blind Jacks Journey, 
Serie Limitee Records and more... 

 In addition , his DJmix for 'Technique Mix Series' was elected by Resident Advisor's Best Mixes 
on October 2016 and gets the evaluation as DJ.

 now he releases his first album 'Halfway' on 'TH Pressing' on September 2018. Tominori Hosoya made 
10 musics with his old but special memories / wishes for his precious things, persons or feelings...
It means all musics were made from the scenery that makes him 35 years old. This album doesn't  only 
include his trademark Deep House / Ambient / Chillout style, but also Broken Beats, Tech House style
too. Deep, melodious, soulful and a little melancholy. Only vinyl release, 2xLP.
