Still Music is proud to present “Analog Aquarium”, the debut album by legendary Detroit house producer Rick “The Godson” Wilhite.

Rick is a longtime member of Detroit’s dance music scene, dating back to his time working at Buy Rite records, one of the epicenters of Detroit’s 1980’s techno music explosion. More recently, his own record shop Vibes New and Rare Music has achieved revered status amongst those in the know, acting as the heart and soul of deep dance music in the city. Rick is also responsible for throwing countless parties in Detroit, helping to develop the house sound that the city is known for, and to build connections to DJs from other cities like Chicago that have proved invaluable over the years. His love for music and records has led to a DJing career that has spanned many genres, though it is his take on deep house music that has led him to international acclaim. Drawing from Detroit’s history of soul, jazz, disco, house, and techno, Rick’s productions weave these sometimes disparate elements into a beautiful, cohesive whole that remains distinctly his own, just as he does with the records he plays in his DJ sets.Working with Theo Parrish, Kenny Dixon Jr., and Malik Pittman on the 3 Chairs project has grown Rick’s reputation even greater.With many classic 12” releases under his own name that have been absolutely beaten to death by DJs worldwide, it is now time for Rick to leave his mark on a wider audience with his debut solo album.

While it is undoubtedly his album, “Analog Aquarium” allows Rick to explore all sides of his musical abilities with the assistance of some of his most trusted allies.The record kicks off with a hot, jazzy vocal track in collaboration with Osunlade,Theo Parrish, and Billy Love, the Jacksons’ referencing “Blame It On The Boogie”.While this tune conjures up images of the California sun, the next cut, “Dark Walking”, sees Rick team up with fellow 3 Chair Malik Pittman to explore the deep, nasty underbelly of the 313 with menacing synth bass and warm jazz chords.The two part jam “Muzic Gonna Save The World” is a loose, stomping string-heavy romp, bringing to mind Pharoah Sanders if the synthesizer and sampler had been his instruments of choice.“Sunshine Pt. 2” starts off pleasant enough with rolling percussion and Rick’s own voice intoning, “Sunshine”, but those vibes are soon belied by the ominous strings and bells that transform the track entirely. One of the tracks from Rick’s frst outing on Still Music is revisited on “City Bar Opening (Basement Mix)”, taking the already raw feeling to an even higher level. “Deep Horizons” begins with frenetic percussion that is eventually whittled down to a soulful groove before building the intensity back up. Rick’s famous late- night sampled grooves reappear on “In The Rain”, with Billy Love vibing up the place with his heart-felt vocals. On “Cosmic Jungle” and “Cosmic Soup”, Rick explores outer and inner space with tripped-out sci-f effects but without sacrifcing the soul that makes his productions so personal. All in all, a ftting full-length for such a diverse musician.

Still Music is based in Chicago, IL, and is the brainchild of Jerome Derradji. Now in its seventh year, Still Music has been instrumental in the worldwide proliferation of some of America’s freshest underground dance music. From raw disco to beautiful, refned techno, and stopping at every tempo and mood between and beyond, Still Music and its sublabels Past Due and Love For Music (also known as Stilove4music) have found room to include artists both established and new, releasing what can only be described as good music.

Besides, the self-confessed animal lover – growing up in a house of 15 dogs, 10 cats, lots of birds, fish, a turtle and a monkey – is one of the busiest DJs in town, spinning vinyl for the likes of Rinse FM and Off Modern, as well as playing across Europe from basement parties in Berlin and Vienna to Outlook festival in Croatia.

MPSF recently finished work on his debut EP, the politely named ‘Sorry I Took So Long’, a nod to having never recorded any material with the live electronics trio, which was My Panda Shall Fly in an earlier form. But it’s been well worth the wait: these three songs navigate the boundaries of Future Bass as we know it. "With my latest tracks I'm trying to explore something different. It's still bass-heavy, but much slower and sparser than the classic wobble sound" the 23-year-old humbly states. But it’s much more than that.

So say fans and supporters such as Gold Panda, Vondelpark and Dam Mantle. The latter signed MPSF to his new imprint Growing (a sub-label of the mighty Witchita Recordings) where his EP has become the first non-Dam Mantle production to be released.

The EP kicks off with “Injury”, a synth-driven, percussion-heavy, effervescent slow burner with a slight Detroit feel. “Xerox” sounds like a baked Nintendo Gameboy gone astray at a South London warehouse party. Then “Yoyo” finally draws the curtain with a wobbly organ bass line pillowed against eccentric Dub-wise rhythms. The snare loses itself in echoes, the orchestra of sounds melt into silence – My Panda Shall Fly has taken off.

The package comes complete with a slew of remixes from UK bass producers, Throwing Snow (Notown/Eglo), Pirate SoundSystem (Heavy Warper/Wide), DoReMi (Longreach Collective/Growing Records), Nightwave aka 8bitch (Slit Jockey US/Seed) and Dam Mantle (Growing Records)."

My Panda Shall Fly - Injury (Kool Clap Egyptian Bambatta Edit)

At the beginning of February, we told you about the forthcoming full-length album by the sci-fi-lovin' bedroom producer known as Com Truise, called Galactic Melt. Still a ways off from seeing that record, we're going to be treated to the three-song Fairlight EP on May 3, courtesy of releasing label Ghostly. None of those homegrown, electro-tinged tunes come from Truise's aforementioned debut LP, and yet they do trick of tiding us over until it arrives. Take the hyper-compressed "Polyhurt," where '80s-inspired sonic motifs are infused with fresh compositional ideas and a reinvigorated soul, one that emanates as much heartache as neon glow. It'll certainly be enough to satiate our nostalgic urges until Com Truise unveils Galactic Melt on July 5.

“I met this humble, proud and very interesting guy from Geneva, Switzerland almost 10 years ago at a really crazy club which was called Dachkantine in Zurich. From the first moment I knew that this guy was one of the few artists who really just follows his pure and dedicated love for music. No compromising, pleasing and bullshitting - that's Agnès. A great buddy to party with, an open-minded spirit to discuss and a truly gifted music producer, live-act and DJ. Welcome to his world.

Since almost a decade he is pushing the boundaries with a raw, deep and cutting-edge sound which is always refreshing and truly personal. With his very own Sthlmaudio Recordings he has possibly established a new form of house music which is rooted in spaced out dub, bouncy boogie as well as in rough techno and has also released many great tracks on the side for labels like Plak, Ornate, Perspectiv and Resopal to name just a few. The amount of releases is hard to overview as he likes to come up with new project names like Ray Valioso, Benelli or Cavalier.

As Cavalier he released in 2008 his first EP for us entitled "Ride 'em", when we asked him for more tracks to do another 12", he sent us around 40 tunes with a sound which blew us away. Ron and myself started to play them out, overwhelmed by the energy of his music, we decided to ask Boris to release an album. Can it go anywhere deeper than this, without losing in any moment the jacking element? So here it is, bump it into your iPhone, play it on vinyl or share it with your friends and hell yeah - dance to it!”

Cavalier aka Agnès is known for his usual deep, dubbed-out minimal techno productions and explore as well more house- influenced rhythms and textures. Agnès runs the Geneva-based label Sthlmaudio Recordings. Launched in 2003, Sthlmaudio has released tracks by Agnès, Puma, Octex, Apoll, Cabanne, Croatian producers Luka & Lazo and lately the Swiss duo Azuni. Agnès also had a well received EP on Cabanne’s Minibar label (’Treat Me Bad’) and popular releases in late 2006 on Plak Records, Einmaleins Musik and Perspectiv Records. He has recently started to collaborate with the Zürich based label Drumpoet Community under the moniker of Cavalier. He also released to date 2 EP under his Ray Valioso name for Real Soon Records in the UK.

Producing and releasing his explorative and unique electronic music on labels such as Mobilee, Highgrade, Freak N’Chic or Micro- Fibres for years, it was in 2010 that Marc Antona felt the time was right to embark on the entirely independent project Dissonant. Over the year that followed, not only did Marc put out three highly praised EPs on his label, he also built and nurtured its concept to what is now the home of his first full length album ‘Rules Of Madness.’

Exposing the hidden grooves within the beats and kicks,“Rules Of Madness” features ten tracks of organic music full of hidden melodies and underlying emotional ambience whilst keeping the pumping vibe experienced in his dj-live sessions.Thru his first album on Dissonant, Marc shows his own creative vision of what he wants to be sexy underground music.
“Rules Of Madness” opens with “Guru,” the album’s sense of shy mystery and intrigue revealed with muffled demeanour and secretive rhythm. Just afterwards, “All Against The Law” introduces the next main thread: analogue field recordings that celebrate the fascinating and often unheard soundtrack of everyday life.These recordings, coupled with the poetic sampled vocals on “Illegal” and the humorous and charming “Hammock Spider Story,” serve to create a beautiful and honest thread to Marc’s tracks. Marc Antona’s Iberian influence is laid bare throughout: the ten tracks coming from his studio on the white island of which he fondly says has "so much contrast between the peaceful nature and the amazing clubbing scene, with so much energy that ideas are plentiful when it's time to make music .” Weaved with exactly that contrast, tracks like "Prohibition Circus" and "Crush To Pulp” play with raw organic hand claps, groovy feelings and the sprinkling bells of ambience.What makes them so compelling though is the atmosphere that they ricochet within; crunching machinery combine with bounding bass and beats to fuel the dance floor.

Throughout his journey and discoveries as a musician, Marc’s passion for "creating musical trips, taking people into his world and making them enjoy the changes of moods from happiness to melancholy, from energy-pumping moments to relaxing deep waves" has developed and is now clearly on point with an album that fully delivers.Whether it is through "Home Rebels" adult maturity or the thunderous energy of "Fast Track,” racing like a stampede of dancing bulls through the album’s core, there are discoveries and new dimensions found within each track and at every new listening.

This summer, Marc will be performing every Sunday at Ibiza’s hottest spot of the year, the renowned open air club Ushuaia. From July till end of summer season, his party called ‘Dissonant Live Sessions presented by Cadenza’ at Ushuaïa will be the place where he will show on the beach club his personal vision of mixing , where DJ-sets turn to a real live-act and wher a party becomes a musical journey.

The parties will take place every Sunday from 7pm to 12pm directly on the beach at Ushuaia Club in Ibiza.

Slz – Slowdown & dance

This track is just too good. It has everything, groove, melody, depth, intellect, variety, textures, sadness, calmness, length, progression, surprise factor, trumpet and nine minutes so you can just get enough. It starts ominously with tension and deep pad sounds but eases and relaxes as it flows like a delicate, invisible smoke through space. Track feels like a sophisticated, long conversation with your best friend. Oh yes and you fall in love in the end.

Slz – Rainy day

This is more of a happy version of a typical sad rainy day with a hint of humour, abstraction and geometrical interplay of various instruments. Evolving is the word that definitely suits this track. It starts as a weird electronica but introduction of live drum fills and sax takes you somewhere nice, jazzy and comfortable. Despite its unusual rhythmical structure ‘Rainy day’ is very danceable and quirky. It plays with you gently with slightly lazy and cheeky brass melody. The toy-like pulsating organ part keeps counting in the background and suspends you occasionally when it releases unexpectedly certain notes in decay. It finishes in one breath living you smiling and wanting more.

‘Get it’ is ultimately a deep/funky track which evolves in cycles with every cycle adding layers and flavours to the track’s progression. Sensual vocal samples and restless drum pattern drive the energy through. There are few break downs in the track masterfully executed with subtle build ups which give ‘Get it’ it’s teasing quality Perfect for peak time track to sensually charge the crowd.

Exercise One return to their Exone label for the end of 2011 with a low slung slice of electronic indie featuring Zach Van Hoozer of the Zulu Pearls on the title track ‘You Ought To Know’. Exercise One and Van Hoozer first met when the Zulu Pearls played with them in Berlin and impressed with their melancholic pop melodies and minimal arrangements, coupled with Zac’s distinctive voice and swagger.

Peter Van Hoesen delivers a standout remix, working for the first time with a full vocal arrangement. Peter is a long-term friend of the duo, first recording on their Lan Muzic label when he began producing techno again and having released previously on Exone this year. B side ‘Top Score’ is a highlight of their recent live shows and is more in the classic energetic Exercise One sound that dancefloors love.

Exercise One have been absorbed this year with many new projects - including the building of a stunning new live set that’s recently taken them to the mighty Fuse in Brussels and ADE, releasing on Dumb-Unit,Wagon Repair and Mobilee, and remixing Elon, Matilda, Billy Dalessandro and Dave Vega feat. Seth Troxler.

‘You Ought To Know’ has also been made into a beautiful video by Munich based artist Michi Acapulco, also featuring Zac Van Hoozer.

Rising Parisian producer Yakine's career pretty much defines the word "eclectic"—in his teens, he was a bona fide metalhead, playing guitar in a metal band that toured all over Europe, before his love of hip hop steered him in the direction of the dancefloor. He really found his home behind the decks, however, and once he discovered the world of electronic music via the patronage of his brother—who introduced him to the sounds of underground deep house and techno—Yakine quickly moved into production. He's since released a series of EPs on European labels like Esperanza and Jetaime Records.

The Rise EP is his first release for Spectral Sound, a four-track slab of understated, atmospheric techno. The title track features a guest vocal from Canadian DJ/producer James Teej, who intones a series of faintly sinister demands—"Are you going to rise to the occasion? Are you going to dismay your friends? Are you going to enjoy the situation?"—over a backdrop of pulsing bass and stabbing synths. "For Motion" picks up both the tempo and the energy, while "Disaster Drop" and "Except" both have a distinctly dubby feel, all spacious reverb and vocal samples that drift in and out of the mix like snatches of half-remembered dreams. The uniting theme is a brooding, cerebral sound that's equally comfortable on the headphones as it is on the dancefloor.
