ONHELL's second EP on Terrorhythm lands - complete with feature from East London grime MC Trim.

Kill Your Self Doubt is the latest exploration of beats and bass from West Coast producer ONHELL, fresh off the back of an outing on Dubstep legend DJ Youngsta's label Sentry, where he featured on their recent compilation.

Featuring a vocal outing from Grime vet Trim, the EP gets straight down to business, a snarling bassline surrounded by Trim's trademark stuttering flow gives us a taste for what is to come, and things get deliciously weirder and more twisted as this one goes on.

With flashes of more bass influence dovetailing with some strong IDM influence, this is an EP that sets out to smash boundaries, and does so with force.

Words from ONHELL:

2018 was probably the worst year of my life. For a while there I was under the impression I was gonna go to prison for a good number of years. Luckily I swooped out of that situation and am on the come up. It's been a long road and music definitely took a big hit during that period in my life. I know some find inspiration within conflict, but in this case, making music confidently was really hard. This next release is my come back. Kill your self doubt is just a message I feel represents my mindset after all the turmoil and I hope it inspires more confidence in everyone's art.

Back in 2018, we released an incredible EP from experimental Russian drum & bass producer, Spline. "Welcome" the lead track and title of the EP demonstrates this experimental aspect extremely well, with its forward-thinking and broken down execution, all while still pushing the traditional drum & bass sound — something truly unique and unlike anything we've ever heard before.  

PRIME presents “Neglect” (VA), a compilation aimed at highlighting select tracks from our catalog over the past few years, which includes a lot of personal favorites from the team that have stood the test of time. Spanning many genres, from house and breaks, all the way to trap and halftime, this is a selection of tracks we think outline our style & sound very well. Producing music has always been a therapeutic process for me. It's one of the only things in my life that I can sit down for hours at a time, completely focus, and reach a state of tranquility. Over the last few years whenever I have been experiencing an emotional state, the genre of what I describe as "lush 85" has been there to serve as an outlet to express the turmoil I'd been experiencing. Directing this energy into music has been extremely powerful. By expressing our emotions through the arts we can transform our trauma into something extraordinary. If we don't acknowledge our emotions and find healthy ways to process them we miss an amazing opportunity to evolve and align with our higher self. 

Although these tracks represent the darker times in the last two years I was experiencing heartache, suffering, and betrayal, the EP as a whole carries a sense of hope and wonder. While working on this type of music I often questioned why during such dark times I always found myself lifting up towards the light vs remaining in darkness. I think this is because I've always felt that every dark moment has something to teach us. Either we can let these moments consume us or we let them guide us to our inner truths to reveal our true selves. 

The dark soundscapes of dubstep and halftime are very important to me and will always have a place in my musical expression but they are an intended action with intention. My intention when writing this music in particular, is not to fight the darkness with more darkness but to shine a light and open myself the unknown. Music can act as a daily journal, allowing you to get your thoughts out of your head and onto paper, allowing for mental clarity and understanding.   

Most of my releases are a collection of tracks meant for DJs and big soundsystems. This release is much more personal. I hope you enjoy listening to start to finish as it carries you through a "Moment In Time" - Inspired by the likes Margari's Kid, Stay, Kid Drama, Amit, Hidden Turn, Om Unit, Tycho and Synkro, it blends various sounds, influences and my own various styles into what I believe to be my most coherent work to date. 

This release marks the end of a big chapter in my life. It serves as a reminder to everything that I have experienced, an anthology to honor my past with gratitude, and move forward. The music and growth I have experienced are a gift. I now graciously share this gift with you.
