"The one with the Eyes" by @rgamble is @marguerite-records' 13th release.
The tracks were all written between the summer and fall of 2020. The pandemic was in its bewildering initial phase when daily life had come apart from its familiar rhythms. The tracks describe this disruption and the return to a musical primordial state by limiting the field of vision to locate the essential. In fact, the artist limited himself with one synthesizer, one drum machine, and a sequencer and the instinct guided him shaping these little vignettes. Now nearly two years later they’re being released into a world that has in many ways resumed its regulated flow. We hope people can still catch a glimpse of that other world outside of time, the vague fear crystallized, the shadows made by afternoon sunbeams gliding like continents across the floor. Marguerite Records owners the duo @bianconegativo were strongly impressed by the last album track 'Precious Arc' and decided to make a remix in a dark cinematic key.

From the deep confines of the universe, we receive emissions of HC Records’ 21st release - Those Dark Whims by UHF, the production duo and Gladio Operations label heads José Castillo and David Aragón. An exciting digital LP from which a selection of tracks have been extracted for vinyl along with remixes by two label regulars, Estrato Aurora and The Lost Boys.

Skynet Was Shy opens both the LP and the vinyl, a hypnotic starting point in which the most vibrant and crystalline electro fuses with acid sequences to generate a state of pure trance, complimented and driven by spiralling sequences and mantra-like vocals. The second track on the LP and A2 on the vinyl is The Lost Boys' remix of Skynet Was Shy. A rough and sharp reinterpretation where the use of 303 sequences continues but focuses on more of a physical than a mental dance.

Hanging Baskets reactivates the state of infinite mental suspension that underlies this powerful and bold composition with deft and minimalistic use of elements: sharp broken rhythms, a dense melodic environment but with occasional moments of pure light and a new vocal message that ignites in our minds.

The B-side kicks off with Estrato Aurora's remix of Day Dream, which as usual in the work of the acclaimed Valencian producer, extends the original version to 8 minutes, giving it an unusual emotionality created by an amalgam of sound textures that interweave multiple pads, mutant melodies and pulsating percussion. Closing the vinyl, UHF's machines join forces with the lyrics of another electro heavyweight in Protestas En Las Redes Feat. Dark Vektor, a combative discourse in which the powerful and robotic vocal message of the Terrassan producer ascend alongside the futuristic melodies, extra-dimensional violins, spatial arpeggios, and metallic rhythms of the Madrid duo.

Five bonus tracks complete the UHF experience, starting with the title track, Those Dark Whims, a perfect blend of funk bass lines, helical synthesisers sequencing sonic chains of acid trance and legendary vocal samples.

The original version of Day Dream, is perhaps the LPs deepest and most emotional track. Low bpms, a rapturous rhythm that alternates syncopated passages with a commanding 4x4 and an atmosphere reminiscent of film noir soundtracks.

Lowering our heartbeat even more to a chill out state, Space Marmalade is served to us rich and tasty on a slice of toast, all sweetness with a purple and phosphorescent touch in this extra-terrestrial downtempo composition. We wake up from the space dream to embrace the emotions created by Tales Of Saigon, Belgian-flavoured Techno that reminds us of early 90s compositions with renewed sound aesthetics that we could imagine moving to on the dance floor of the mythical Boccaccio Life. A wink to the 1979 classic, The Warriors, directed by Walter Hill leads us into Baseball Furies, a playful, nocturnal, and hyper-muscular slice of electro. Thick drums, bouncy bass, fx and dark pads unify mystery and rogue dance.

On Tuesday 30/04/24 the LP will be presented live at Killing Time, the physical headquarters of the label located in Valencia. Following an interview conducted by HC label boss David Verdeguer, the duo will be DJing along with two of the vinyl’s guest remixers, Estrato Aurora and The Lost Boys.

“Room is sparsely lit and pierced by random strobe lights.The central working desk is drowning in cables and intermittently flashing machines that are played (and to some extent controlled by) eight lab personnel. 

The energy flows from the centre and forms a circle of moving and dancing bodies until late in the night. The world seems to be in a state of advanced decadent decay. It is evident that people are increasingly breaking and growing apart. This lab experiment should effectively save some souls from this process, or at least postpone the point of no return a bit for them.

PREMIERE: Lab Personnel - Feel It Fall Apart (Sons Of Traders)

Trust the Rust is back with a vengeance. The second compilation by Kri Records takes up where the previous one left off: rusty electro, occult wave, distorted acid and melancholic EBM.

We're happy to welcome back Alonzo, NY's finest, who opens the release with his signature 808 bass. Hayter pushes pitched-down vocals and filthy electro vibe further, while Chino delivers a diabolical ravey EBM banger. Serbian duo YusYus marches on with an authoritative synth anthem Masters Of The Future and Disco Morato finishes the A side with a hypnotic slow burner Ultime.

B Side opens with a bang by Parand, followed by arctic electro mist crafted by System Disorder (aka Dj Nephil). Marco Segato smoothly blended electro and jungle with the track Subconscious, Zagreb collective Lab Personnel's dark stomper might evoke fist pumps on the floor, while E.L.I.'s nostalgic piece Atonal Being rounds the release.
