Throughout his career Hallahan has gained praise for his distinctive singing voice, literary lyric writing style and for his ability to straddle multiple music genres seemingly with ease. Hallahan’s sound has been associated with genres such as indie folk, alternative pop, lo-fi, Americana, blues, roots, alt country and soul.  His lyrics are descriptive, visual, and observational. He is inspired by many music artists and styles and cites film and literature as also being a big inspiration.
