the kfpnyx mix series includes many sub kinds of electronic music, especially rough and melodic techno, house, electro, breakbeat and ambient. for this purpose we want to involve our residents, friends of the crew and selected guests.

Balleremo & Cura Festival resident, Ortensio brings us an extended mix testing the limits of 'dance music' - a beautifully introspective blend of slow jams, percussive textures, moments of serenity contrasted with moments of total chaos and more dub infused and bass heavy sounds.

For this mix I wanted to try and build a blend some of the outcome of my researches towards the different shades and forms of danceable music I personally enjoy the most, possibly limiting as much as possible the usage of music conceived and created specifically for the contemporary dance floors and sound systems, and trying to dig deeper into different dimensions of regular and non-regular rhythms, music jams and head-moving sonic creations from all over the world, mostly focusing on the mediterranean macro area and more.

My past, when I was living in Berlin and DJing more regularly in clubs, has helped me shape my technical skills. Milano instead has helped me breaking my limits, getting out of my comfort zone and destroying a lot of the patterns that, as a DJ and Music Maker, were locking me down in a box. There’s a lot of oxygen, curiosity and creativity nowadays in my everyday life.

Definitely one of the kinetic events. I prefer small DIY events over infamous and hyper-celebrated social gatherings. The only thing I care the most about lately is the sound system.

o:Where did you record this mix? 
w:I recorded this mix at the location of my party Acid Lake, the sun was setting, a deer was roaming up ahead, and a giant orange moth was flying around me :) 

o:What drew you to the sounds?
w:I have been thinking a lot recently about the perception of time in the context of love and loss. The way that our mind orchestrates a measurement of how long something feels in accordance with its impact on us. 

There is a magic involved in our metaphysical connections with one another, and the ways in which we can connect despite distance and extended time apart, but also how it feels when something bad happens to someone we love, sometimes before any contact with that person if the connection is deep enough. 

I wanted to channel these thoughts and connect with a collection of sounds spanning across many years and locations, tied together by their formation deep within the soul.

w:The release party for the debut record by Excelsior Ruth @xlsior ;)

'Fragments of Us', the 13-track debut album from DJ/Producer Midland is out now on Vinyl, CD & Tape format and across all digital and streaming outlets. The album comes via Midland’s own imprint, Graded. The cover art is a photo by his brother Dom Agius, and the type and graphics are by longtime friend and
designer, Nick Shea.

The full-length album from which the single is taken features the voices of some Midland’s artistic heroes including Marlon Riggs, David Wojnarowicz alongside the contemporary voices of Stereogamus’ Jonny Seymour and Horse Meat Disco’s Luke Howard.

Possessing a knack for driving rhythms and rolling melodies with an emphasis on acidic and jacking dance music, Brooklyn-based DJ and producer Justin Cudmore is fast becoming a highly sought-after talent on the world stage. His debut release 'Crystal' on Honey Soundsystem's HNYTRX imprint became what some call an instant classic and he's steadily followed the hype with stellar releases on Interdimensional Transmissions, The Bunker NY and ISNISNT.
