1984 is a disco style synth-wave track with an 80’s vibe. Disco style stabs, and an epic pitch bending synth lead, are driven by a relentless yet simple beat and octave shifting bassline. The angelic sounding vocal samples add to the euphoric and upbeat sound, making this an uplifting dance track.

Es una pieza que respira collage digital: percusión seca de herencia electro, bajo áspero que empuja en primera línea y un entramado de samples y fragmentos vocales que se descontextualizan para ganar sentido rítmico. Nada de fuegos artificiales; tensión sostenida, microdetalles en el estéreo y un pulso utilitario pensado para mover la pista con inteligencia, no a gritos.

El track funciona como manifiesto del álbum Under Way: técnicas de muestreo con ADN hip hop, texturas industrial y guiños a la first-wave electronica de los 80 rearmados en clave actual. La progresión no busca drops grandilocuentes; apuesta por una acumulación de energía que sube por capas —filtros, chasquidos, percusiones periféricas— hasta un clímax sobrio, perfectamente mezclable en un set de club.

Mike Galvin began his musical journey with classical training before being drawn into the underground rave scene in Dublin, Ireland in the 2000s after a brief spell playing in indie bands. Further inspiration was drawn from an appreciation of jazz and improvisational styles, epic movie scores, and the kinetic beats of the Berlin and Detroit house music and techno scenes before a move to Toronto in 2015.

He has played session guitar on releases and remixes by Canadian artists, and has composed scores for film including the award winning Irish short film “A Silence Between”.

He now draws upon these influences to create unique soundscapes that evoke a nostalgia for the introspective comedown after long nights of dancing, and a longing for the acceptance and embrace of close friends.
