The Big Throwdown

Feeling humbled to play a sold out show in my hometown opening up for Emancipator in Salt Lake City. It has always been my dream to share pieces of music that have inspired me or touched my heart. This past show I played more of my own original content than I ever have before. This was the first time I walked off stage feeling proud of the track selection, mixing, scratching and performance. Usually I am feeling discouraged after I play knowing I could have done better or focusing on a small mistake; however, this time I feel great about it.  stay tuned for more content. MikeRat is a producer/instructor based in Minneapolis, MN.  His music encompasses squelchy saw waves, bright arpeggiators, and his years as a drummer influenced mostly by hip-hop.  He'll sample anything from his favorite cartoons to old-school kung-fu movies, with a frightening adoration of ninjas.  His tunes like to play pranks while occasionally dipping into more serious and even heartfelt themes.  He's been heard across labels like Wormhole and The Great Magnet, and is a resident performer of Infrasound Music Festival.  He also instructs for Slam Academy, which is Minnesota's only Ableton certified training center.
