This mix starts off with Beres first tune "The Wanderer". Can be a bit hard to hear that it's him cause he is clearly influenced by singers like Alton Ellis and John Holt. And he is young. The mix ends with his Treasure Isle version of "Living Just A Little" which I think is his second release. The mix is mostly about the bad/sad side of love; cheating, lying, missing, leaving, crying etc. Beres is as good at this, as Usain Bolt is good at running. "I'll Never Change" and "Got To Get Away" are stand out tracks on his masterpiece album Soul Reggae from 1976. Full Attention and Over You are Beres top ten, the later was the biggest reggae song in England 1995. "Who Say" in combination with Buju Banton should be played by every serious selector in the world! It is among the 20 best songs to ever come out of Jamaica!!! "Bad News", "I Could Beat Myself" and "Come Back Home" are all 90's anthems, maybe Beres best period all together. "No I Can't" is a favourite on dubplate and is one of Beres best songs this decade. And the marvelous "See You Again" is the underrated magic here. Enjoy!
