The second Beres-mix reflects the reality side of Beres Hammond. Even though Beres is mostly famous for his lovers tunes he has had some of his biggest hits with tunes about the almighty, politics and comments about the street violence in Jamaica. Masters time is the original version of his 90`s tune Make Way, here on the answer riddim. Beres was part of the group Zap Pow in the 70`s and they recorded Last War, the instrumental was later used by Collie Budz (Come Around) and gained huge popularity. Putting Up Resistance is definately one of his biggest and best songs ever, Black Beauty might be the most underrated, Hold On is among the best reggae songs from the mid 90`s while Try If You Want could be the best song here. Fire is a favourite song among people that don`t really appreciate Beres. No comments about that kinda people! The Journey ends the mix and is almost a Beres song about his own career. It contains a line about singing sad love songs, which means that the next Beres mix could be the best one…

BAP! BAP! BAP! Volume Three 2005 - 2011 Reggae & Hip Hop Remixes

This mix starts off with Beres first tune "The Wanderer". Can be a bit hard to hear that it's him cause he is clearly influenced by singers like Alton Ellis and John Holt. And he is young. The mix ends with his Treasure Isle version of "Living Just A Little" which I think is his second release. The mix is mostly about the bad/sad side of love; cheating, lying, missing, leaving, crying etc. Beres is as good at this, as Usain Bolt is good at running. "I'll Never Change" and "Got To Get Away" are stand out tracks on his masterpiece album Soul Reggae from 1976. Full Attention and Over You are Beres top ten, the later was the biggest reggae song in England 1995. "Who Say" in combination with Buju Banton should be played by every serious selector in the world! It is among the 20 best songs to ever come out of Jamaica!!! "Bad News", "I Could Beat Myself" and "Come Back Home" are all 90's anthems, maybe Beres best period all together. "No I Can't" is a favourite on dubplate and is one of Beres best songs this decade. And the marvelous "See You Again" is the underrated magic here. Enjoy!

"Groovy Little Thing" and "Can't Stop A Man" are fantastic tunes but this four mix serie of more than 150 tunes by Beres Hammond proves that there are way more to voice on dubplate! "They Gonna Talk" was released on 12 inch as "Wonder What The People Say" 1999 and might be Beres most popular tune ever. Many songs here have been a favourite for a certain person or sound. "Teeny Weeny Little Lovin" was put to my attention by Joey Fevers brother Jr. Tan and Irie And Mellow by Komposti Sound. Thanks for that!
