Justin Ton a.k.a Tonic TheOnly is a Johannesburg based artist. Bringing you sounds of deep house, dub techno, deep techno as well as minimal techno – in his own words, “I am here to keep it sexy.” This is exactly what he has always done – needles to mention the word “rookie”, Justin first started to learn the art of being a selecter in 2019 and with never looking back, he has performed with some of the best local “underground’ artists but mainly making a name for himself in the international underground scene.

Tonic TheOnly has featured on music podcats such as DEEP MVMT (London,United Kingdom), _Destruct & Selected (Berlin, Germany) T01 Radio (Johannesburg, South Africa) & Stimulus (SA) (Cape Town, South Africa). Tonic TheOnly is also host of the True Underground Sound (TUS) Podcast Series on SoundCloud which features some of the biggest names. With 8 single, 2 EP & 1 album releases to his name – curation is what you’ll find the him doing these days.

The main focus on this project for Tonic TheOnly is to show listerners that both both Deep Techno & Dub Techno is still very far from being abandoned genres. Drawing inspiration from the 2012 – 2015 Deep Tech era – he brings you the grooviest sounds with plenty hard hitting basslines and kicks that stay true to the name “Minimal Hertz”.🔊

Cameron Cloete or know as Man Overboard is more than just a DJ — he’s a storyteller riding the rhythm of tides and techno. Born in South Africa and raised on the open ocean, this self-taught selector brings a rare perspective to the decks: one shaped by life on yachts, global exploration, and an obsession with sound that moves both body and soul.

Blending deep minimal grooves, rolling tech-house, and stripped-back percussion, Man Overboard builds immersive sets that echo the calm and chaos of the sea — hypnotic, pulsing, and unpredictable in all the right ways. Inspired by artists like Cristian Craken, Pawsa,daryn steytler, Chris stussy  and the underground scenes across Europe, his music speaks to dancers who crave more than just a drop — they crave a journey.

Armed with a dream setup of CDJ-3000s and a DJM-V10, he’s honed his craft across international waters, creating waves in private events, exclusive beach clubs, and underground afters. Whether he’s spinning under stars out at sea or laying down a sunrise set in the Med, Man Overboard delivers a sound that’s both raw and refined — just like the lifestyle that fuels it.

This isn’t just music. It’s motion.

Minimal Hertz #004 | Man Overboard

Ovidiu Gabriel is the real name of the young man who loves to provide energy to music enthusiasts. Growing up in an environment surrounded by music, he studied guitar and piano from a young age and then a few years ago flirted with electronic music as a DJ under the name O’vi. Attracted by famous bands like Depeche Mode, he approaches different electronic styles with musical harmony in a house rhythm with vintage sounds, that creates a dialogue between the past and the present, which delights listeners, whether they are in a club or at an outdoor festival.

O’vi excels in art, creating a rich auditory experience with a melodic line in his performances that resonates with a subtle nostalgia for analog sounds, while maintaining freshness and relevance in the contemporary scene. The experience of organizing events under projects such as Breathe Concept and Movie Sound has developed a special perspective when it comes to the atmosphere that you have to offer through the quality of the artistic act. The time and dedication he invests in the moments at the lectern fills him as well as the audience with emotion and joy.

Minimal Hertz #005 | O’vi

Born in Honduras and based in Chicago, Nestor Arriaga is an electronic music producer and performer crafting sounds that bridge minimal, house, deep, and breakbeat. With roots in modular synthesis and a self-taught approach to production, his music blends technical precision with emotional depth.
Drawing influence from 80s textures, jazz, funk, and classical, Nestor shapes grooves that are both introspective and built for the dancefloor. Inspired by artists like Joris Voorn, Stefano Noferini, and Stephan Bodzin, his sound balances rhythm, melody, and atmosphere in equal measure.

Having performed across the Americas and Europe, Nestor Arriaga is known for immersive, dynamic DJ sets. He’s currently working on several upcoming EPs and developing a hybrid live show that fuses hardware performance with modular synthesis for a truly unique experience.

Minimal Hertz #006 | Nestor Arriaga

Minimal Hertz is a Music Collective and a Music Event focussed on the underground music scene, our aim and mission is for music inclusivity both from behind the decks and on the dance floor. As the music we listen to and the equipment we use to make it develops - we are often left in a predicament and often focus too much on what the name of the style/genre we are listening to or we get stuck in a box of a certain style. 

As a result we aim to have our DJ’s & Artists we work with to curate a journey with no boundaries to the styles of music they select within the dance music scene, (Not to be confused with Open Format) From this approach we hope to have dance floors that are blended in unison motion and that are free to express themselves and DJ sets that are not limited in set durations and set times. 

In the same light of not being limited by boundaries - we do not have a fixed base as the brand is carried by the individuals associated with Minimal Hertz and exists wherever they are in the world. We hope and aim to create intimate events around the world where we feel our energy is best reciprocated. We will have a limited use “phone policy” on our floors in light of allowing people to fully express themselves. 

We hope to work with similar minded artists and venue managers/owners who share the same goal and vision we do.
