After a small hiatus with the mix series I felt it was important to keep going with it. This beautiful healing music by Berlin based @slowfoam is exactly what the doctor ordered. Slowfoam is the cyber-atmospheric, bubblescape, synthetic pop, and ambient sound project of Madelyn Byrd

"In this mix, I wanted to drift between otherworldly realms to reassociate with the things I love most about ours. For me, some of these things include laying on the earth and pretending to merge into the blue sky, the sonic and energetic sensations of being alone in nature, or staring at a glistening river until falling into a trance. But also, having friends and loved ones I miss so much I start to giggle when I think about the fun we've had together, and then fun we'll have together again."

"i ve always had a bit of a split personality between really fast,
loud or sensous bangers and all-envelopping, thick-padded, soothing
ambient. in the past i got to share my poppy obsessions du jour directly on the dancefloor back when clubs were still a thing and i was running a silly,
chaotic and very gay monthly party called saint hollywood.

with almost all of my coping mechanisms suddenly unavailable and a bunch of
writing to do, i ve spent most of the past year digging for soft, soothing sounds i can listen to over and over, especially at times when i can barely listen to music at all. 

lexi inviting me to contribute to one of my fav series has been an amazing gift and i hope this little mix does it justice <3"

Poisonoise Music - Beauty Sleep Mix 025 (Dub Techno / Deep Techno)

Welcome on board, here's the 55th episode of the Stellar Series.

Rig Thrall is one of those artists with strong character and style, plus an eclectic and varied selection combined to solid influences. A racy techno style combining planar and tribal music but also progressive trance, breaks and marked tones from the 80s-90s.

He co-created various projects during his young life in this industry, such as @rakya-records (label & collective) in Paris or OQULT collective in Montreal (facebook.com/oqultmtl) for the most recent.

Also producer, he released two EPs, including one on his own label, and several collaborations on movie or advertising soundtracks. He is currently working on new projects which should see the daylight soon. Case to follow.

It's been a year since I uploaded my last Safe Radio episode. Damn. That was certainly not my intention. I actually had in mind to do three to four episodes a year, but it only came down to one due to various reasons [read: L I F E!]. It was a long one, though. hehe.

But here we are! FINALLY another episode in the Safe Radio series. I'm very happy and excited about the result, but moreso relieved that I already now have planned out episode two in season seven. It means that I'm on the path of doing four this year. So far at least. Hell yeah! 

This first episode of season seven includes no less than sixty nine tracks ranging from my favorite headphone music over hazy downtempo and japanese dub to no nonsense club trax. Different styles, tempos, old, new, unreleased - u name it. 

If you're still reading this long post I'd like to express my gratitude to all the people [still] supporting and listening to my stuff. It truly means a lot. Especially when I put so much energy and time into what I do. THANK YOU! 

Lastly I'd like to say that I'll be looking for shows over the coming autumn and winter. Will be posting about it in the coming weeks, but feel free to HMU if you're interested in bringing me to your club/show/event/whatever!

C.K - Safe Radio S07E01

The ICE LP was created by Maxim Wolzyn over a period of three years, mostly whilst touring throughout Germany by train as part of the Günther Lause duo. Spread over eight tracks, the LP poetically captures the complex networks of railways and tunnel systems that carry with them the thoughts and feelings of millions of people, aspiring to attain an overall impression of the collective consciousness of a society on the move. 

Inspired sonically by the soundscapes of urban spaces, rail stations and the pulsing motions of modern mass transportation, various field recordings are mixed with reverberating synthesizer patterns and percussive composition, creating a mixture of straight forward techno and dystopian ambiences. 

While being reminiscent of Berlin's dub techno tradition it also transcends the typical club context, moving into the realm of the intimate and personal.

Back in July, Denmark's Claus Haxholm aka Assembler  released the album Quantum Paths of Desire, on the Copenhagen-based imprint Infinite Waves.
Haxholm takes his industrial-inspired, techno-oriented loose sound to lighter and brighter places, more clearly evoking house, trance and even new age music. At the same time the album draws on influence from Japanese, Korean and Chinese music as well as Haxholm’s own background in areas such as noise, drone, doom, industrial and more.  On this mix, he incorporates his influences with current favorites to produce something that is quite different from anything we've presented before.  Enjoy.

Bolstered by a community of harmoniously experimental artists in Montréal, Simon Chioini creates a hybrid of new music compositions and genre fusing underground club sounds – acoustic instrumental flourishes and synth waves layered in syncopated rhythms and unexpected distortions. His experiments in minimalist composition tiered in techno beats have honest roots: stemming from classical percussion and a self driven study of pioneering and outlier electronic music of the 90s and 00s followed by a degree in electroacoustic composition at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal.

Chioini co-founded and co-organizes independent music label and musician-composer-producer collective Acte with Gabriel Ledoux, Devon Hansen, Philippe Vandal and Kara-Lis Coverdale – Acte recently released a mixtape with Decoder Magazine and is involved in online radio platform n10.as Radio, inspired by Berlin Community Radio and London's NTS. He is also an advisor to the concert society Codes d’accès, an organization that promotes emerging artists in new music.

S. Chioini Mindful Mix for MIMS

I’ve figured out recently that the music I like to listen to and that inspires me the most, even when it comes to club music, is not necessarily the music that resonates with the body or the soul, but the music that speaks directly to the mind. Electro is just that to me. Its main themes — cybernetics, telecoms, space exploration, dystopia, etc — are fertile grounds to the imagination. Its jittery hats are a vibrant neurotic stimulation and its fast-paced synth lines are like a cryptic language that can only be deciphered on the dance floor, every kick and snare hits knocking you as hard as they can.

This mix combines some of the tracks I have enjoyed playing the most through the last year, including some classics and a lot of fresh picks. Thanks to labels like Sheffield’s CPU or Glasgow’s Craigie Knowes, electro is getting more and more accessible. I cannot pretend to be an expert on the subject as I possess no real knowledge of the history of the genre. I can only say that this is the music that excites me at the moment when it comes to club sounds, and with the recent upsurge of the electro supply on the digital market, it’s been a really fun time exploring.

As for the mix itself, it begins on a steady groove by Anthony Rother and it builds up on energy from there, pickup acid basslines on the way up and going through a few breakbeat detours. My favorite moment is at about 30 minutes, when everything is blown up by Walton’s crazy SFX break on his recent quasi-dubstep track "Rolla". Beautiful atmospheric moment coming up shortly with No Moon’s "Where Do We Go From Here", then it actually goes on through more mind-expanding craziness with a 160bmp interlude (Client_03, Hoover1). I have inserted an Absurde EXCLUSIVE right after that — coming up on our own techno label Humidex very soon ! Then it’s time for anthemic techno before things slow down a little, going through Weird Electronica Zone (Glyn Hendry, Lazarus). Following is a brief introspective moment by Adam X, the last minutes of the mix bringing it back to electro in its purest form. Nullptr’s "Cybernoid" was the best possible outro.
