This is a reconstruction of the last hour of my closing set at Ostgut Ton Nacht at Berghain, August 2014. I played mostly Techno during this appr. 9 hour set. Towards the end, I liked to calm down a little with the music in this mix.

Surgeon first encountered Jesse Dorris via live streams of his broadcasts on the legendary, independent American radio station WFMU, where his show Polyglot https://www.wfmu.org/playlists/PX mixes up new electronic sounds, queer ephemera, and vintage queasy listens each week as the sun rises over New York City. For the March 2024 instalment of Tresor Meets Surgeon, the pair team up in Globus for an all-night b2b that takes cues from Joe Meek’s studio to the GRM to the Loft—anywhere sound waves hit four walls and resonate. 
For this all night session Jesse and Tony played one hour on, one hour off with Jesse starting the night. We hope you enjoy listening to this recording as much as we did playing the music.

All Night Long at Globus, Berlin March 23rd, 2024

Helmut Geier’s career in music is just about as long as they come, starting out a DJ freshman back in 1978 and witnessing numerous of the most notable revolutions in sound and politics to have changed the world since. So many of electronic’s foremost names, like cult Berlin record dispensary Hard Wax, or Tresor and E-Werk where he held residencies, or even Limelight in New York, all bear his mark to some degree or other. Then there’s his releases, collaborations and remixes, and forays into the world of fashion, numerous enough they’d take a while to tally. His formula for longevity has been a chameleon-like ability to stay tapped into the zeitgeist and guide its course, International Deejay Gigolo Records has been a permanent conduit for the mission, his early championing of the electroclash genre and work with talents like Ms. Kittin, Laurent Garnier and Vitalic another notable moment in the last half century. One thing’s for certain: DJ Hell’s not planning on going anywhere; his work’s at times anthemic, at times high camp, but constantly pulling from a lifetime of references both past and new and creating something new from the embers. Bassiani Podcast 240 is a very special live recording from Hell’s set at Bassiani’s Time Passages night back on September 27th, a three hour instalment heavy with 80s synthwork, vocoder frequencies and pounding bass. Yet another watermark from a cultural legend.

Here is a set recording from one of my most valuable events, CODA by Ratherlost x Pax-Roama at Lofi. I put a massive effort into that night, thinking about the past and future of my DJ career. I communicated best with the dancers and could express myself in a way that only I could. Sometimes I feel insecure about my life as a DJ. CODA gave me all the answers.

Nimbly walking the tightrope between sensuous house folds and more rugged, up-for-the-jugular techno on a deep, dubby tip, Ogazón treats us to a high-end vinyl workout flush with immersive, cinematic motion and proper low-slung club-oriented extrapolations. The result is a mix that swings the pendulum between sheer blazing functionality and an escapist mindset, sparking off the inextinguible will to go out and rave your night away from the daily hassle, and you can trust Ogazón for she certainly knows how to teleport dancers to a whole cozier, comely dimension in the twinkling of an eye. @fadimohem is right at the heart of contemporary techno. He brings his own twist on the classic sound - deep, rhythmic and atmospheric. He's a Berghain resident whose first contact with the genre came at the hallowed club, and since then, he has blazed his own trail on the most influential labels in the scene, including his own Mohem imprint. This year, he plays twice at Dekmantel Festival, once as part of WSNWG Live and once on the Radar stage.

Ahead of that, he has put together an exclusive one-hour live set comprised only of unreleased music. It's a masterclass in control that embodies just what you get from Fadi in the club: deep techno planted firmly on the floor but always going somewhere. As dubbed out low ends, glitchy textures and more tripped out melodies come and go, the tension ramps up while both body and mind stay locked.
