Acclaimed producer, DJ and community leader TYGAPAW (@tygapaw) is one of the contemporary guiding lights of the New York club scene. Creating multiple spaces for the city’s LGBTQ+ community to thrive within nightlife culture, their 2020 debut album Get Free acted as a rallying cry to dismantle patriarchy, racism and queerphobia set to some of the most full bodied, soul-rendering electronic music of recent memory. Today, TYGAPAW returns with a brand new single, ‘MYSM’, as well as announcing their signing to fabric Originals.


Anchored by an authoritative, low-end heavy kick, 'MYSM' combines distorted, clattering percussion with a flurry of bass notes with a seductive vocal refrain. That refrain, while swathed in autotune and reverb, is punctuated with whispered thoughts that float above the track's highly textured sonic tapestry in a way that makes the track as much of a spiritual experience as it is a hedonistic one, purpose built for clubs. The track's groove buries itself within the consciousness - creating a hypnotic atmosphere that while rousing in nature, remains mesmerising enough to take the listener beyond the environment they are listening to the track within. 


With 'MYSM', TYGAPAW finds new levels for their relentlessly powerful sound - a dynamic, commanding step into a brand new era. ‘MYSM’ relentlessly pushes the boundaries to discover new ways of driving the listener to sweat; whether that be by themselves, or within the communal euphoria of a dancefloor. Programmed between Medellín and Barcelona over the course of two years, Grial explores concepts of mestizo (a mixed race identity) and its “impurity” from an uncolonized perspective. Rejecting the notion of a singular Latinx musical identity, Verraco paints his own vision of South American IDM, blending perreo, jungle ambiance and mountainous Andes braindance.

From rural chants flowing down a mountain range, to street bikes and gang outbreaks lighting up cityscapes, the use of field recordings in Grial guide listeners through Verraco’s sonic fiction. These ten pieces present an intricate pluriverse that the Western world has greatly marginalized. Verraco proposes to rethink the sudaca cyborg-habitants of the future fusing powerful sound design to collapse the established order. Grial becomes the sacrament in which other possible worlds turn corporeal.

'The title of the newest release of FOR. suggests that our contemporary collective fantasies are trapped in an imaginary vacuum space, or closed-circuit in which the possibility of any alternative looks immeasurably distant. In that sense, the raised fist of a disembodied protagonist by Vera Romhány on the cover of the mini-album is an unequivocal call for a unified protest against the void of our futureless present. But the recent EP of Ábris Gryllus and Miklós Farkas is not only a symbolic gesture of such agitation but also a comprehensive summary of their long-term music collaboration. Ever since their early releases, FOR. functions as a FORum of their shared interests in techno-dystopian sonic worlds and brutalist sci-fi visions evoking various technologically advanced, machine-dominated future scenarios that, by the time, increasingly resemble our contemporary reality. 

The carefully designed sound effects of the new tracks, often inducing sharp noises of some nanotech devices or dismantled futuristic weapons, are almost always counterpointed with harsher sound textures, bold basses, and asymmetric rhythm structures. Accordingly, the recent EP Vacuum also aims to embrace various topics, such as politically engaged movements and militant aesthetics, monotonous labor and dehumanization, neo-industrial corporations, and virtual frontiers of future geographies that have yet to be drawn.'
