We are thrilled to share this absolute stomper of a Juicy Tunes installment curated by the wonderful Nakamo <3 

Nakamo's sound drifts through different worlds and eras, merging driving techno, melodic textures, and nostalgic grooves with a futuristic twist.

Nakamo started her DJ journey in 2020 across the North London party scene, crafting podcasts over lockdown for London-based techno collectives. She made her debut at award-winning artist-led space and nightclub FOLD. Since then, the recent newcomer has already made a strong name for herself, having played at well-respected events in the capital, such as HTBX, HOWL, UNFOLD as well as making her European debut at the mighty Ved Siden Af in Copenhagen earlier last year.

Josiane is a Congolese born and in Germany raised Designer, Creative and DJ based in Berlin that started her journey DJing in 2022. Her sets are identified by a bold sound curve with bassy house, mixed with acid and trance induced sounds. Josiane is the co-founder of What a Playground, a collective with Lena Brecht, they host a regular radio show at @refugeworldwide and curate events. Additionally, Josiane hosts a monthly podcast titled “Private PAradise” @private.paradise_fm on @komrad.net_ . On this Platform she explores to mix different sounds of house and techno and invites other artists to share musically their “Private Paradise”.

Set the Mood with RE:SET!

Set the Mood is a concept-based mix-series focussing on opening-sets. 

Nick, also known as RE:SET, is a techno enthusiast from Utrecht. Although he grew up listening to mostly rock and metal, he was also raised with house music starting at the age of 8, which significantly influenced his current connection with dance music. As soon as he was old enough to attend dance music events, RE:SET fell in love with techno, captivated by its diverse elements.

The covid-19 pandemic was a turning point for RE:SET. Unable to attend events, he began DJing to fill the void, which deepened his passion for techno. He became addicted to discovering tracks and developed a keen interest in sharing music from lesser-known, talented producers. For RE:SET, there's no greater feeling than seeing a crowd respond to the music he loves.

RE:SET's sets are normally characterized by what he considers proper techno: continuous, danceable music with hypnotic and groovy elements. While he typically plays at a high BPM, he has recently started enjoying slower tempos, finding the art of managing energy and flow at different speeds to be a rewarding challenge.

RE:SET believes a perfect opening set creates a welcoming vibe, allowing listeners to find their place on the dancefloor and feel comfortable. The music begins with a mellow energy, encouraging dancers to start moving at a relaxed pace, gradually warming up for the more intense dancing that will come later. A good opener sets the stage for the following artists, ensuring a seamless continuation of the musical journey.
