In a monumental year for Toolroom Records, we are proud to announce the release of Steve Silk Hurley’s legendary ‘Jack Your Body’ in conjunction with S&S Records, updated by rapidly rising star, Doorly, 

Pioneering Chicago house producer, songwriter and four time GRAMMY® Award-nominee, Steve Silk Hurley is renowned for his signature mixing skills and diverse mixing style. His immense creative skill also transfers to his production, seeing him sell millions of records and working with the likes of Prince, Madonna, Michael Jackson, R. Kelly and Mary J. Blige.

Written and produced by Hurley, ‘Jack Your Body’ quickly earned the distinction of being the UK’s first house music chart topper and all through club exposure alone, paving the way for the acid house sound. It is a landmark track in the history of house.

Originally released on pioneering Chicago house label, S&S Records, Doorly brings ‘Jack Your Body’ bang up to date for release on powerhouse label, Toolroom Records. Maintaining the bassline and vocal sample, Doorly updates this mid ‘80s classic by taking it down a techier route and bumping up the bass, whilst maintaining crisp and clean production throughout.

An inspiration to his contemporaries and a generation of producers who follow, it is only fitting that Steve Silk Hurley’s seminal track, ‘Jack Your Body’, receive the remix treatment from our tip for the future of house music, Doorly.

Drop Out Orchestra feat. Steven Kimber - Tough Love (Cyclist Remix)

Simultaneously with the announcement of our 15th Watergate-Compilation, we are also proud to present the number 15 of our vinyl series.

The man behind the black wax is Mathias Kaden, whose exclusive track now finds its new home in our label catalogue - with "Fin" he literally marked the end of his compilation which was released in this year's summer. The track warms up with an aesthetically-stumbling beat pattern, gathers speed attended by rattling hi-hats and suddenly turns into a smooth piano-break. After this grace period the allround-tool unfolds its full force and tramps down on the dancefloor.

No less a figure than Josh Wink contributed a remix to this bomb. The Ovum-Records boss interpreted "Fin" in his habitual freethinker-attitude as a hypnotic-house track in a totally new context. Dopey bleeps wriggle through the drums and leave woozy traces in the audiences' heads.

"Fin" appears on January 20 on vinyl & digital. The digital EP also contains the exclusive tracks from Rodriguez Jr. and Christian Burkhardt from Mathias Kaden's Watergate 14 compilation.

Kevin McHugh aka Ambivalent officially launches his new Amber project with 'Wave of Grain', his debut EP for Mobilee Records. Beginning life as a part a one-off collaboration Jake & Amber on Minus - which resulted in This Is Mine, perhaps the most house track the label ever released - Amber captures the lighter side of McHugh's sound, which shone through in his Ambivalent work, notably via the mischievous vocals of Down or the disco groove of his Plus 8 EP Jackson.

Having spent his career to date as part of the Minus collective, Amber marks the starts of a new phase in McHugh's career - no longer obligated to confine his sound to within a very specific label aesthetic, the New York via Berlin producer now enjoys the freedom to take his sound into new area, with Amber representing the house end of the various projects he now has in motion, while his main Ambivalent guise has already begun to widen its scope, with appearances on Turbo, Cocoon, Ovum and Soma in the past couple of years.

Tasked with finding a home for the new Amber sound, Anja Schneider's Mobilee label was the perfect fit for Waves of Grain's combination of fleet-footed house and darker techno undercurrents, and so it proved upon the huge reception for the track's test plays in recent Schneider sets. The A2, Space Album, makes the distinction of the Amber project from McHugh's previous work even more explicit, with a rubbery synth melody and swinging beat putting the funkier elements of his sound front & centre. The vinyl edition of the EP packages the two tracks with a remix from Hobo, which takes the low-slung style of the original and pumps it up into an unashamedly big room house track that's sure to appeal to anyone who went crazy for Hobo's 2013 summer anthem Incise. The digital edition, out a week after the vinyl, comes with its own exclusive in the shape of The Story, a melancholic counterpoint to the EP's title track, with its dueling male and female vocal samples supplementing a disarmingly light melody underpinned by a stealthy pulsing rhythm.

It takes focus and dedication to tick the full range of boxes – DJ, producer, label boss – but Jon Rundell's rise through the techno ranks has shown that it's not just his tough, tribalistic sound that has plenty of gas in the tank. 

Label manager of Intec, as well as his own Etch imprint, he stood shoulder to shoulder with long term ally Carl Cox on last year's 'Pure Intec 2' comp, embarking on a 'Pure Intec' European tour afterwards at venues like Fabric and Space Ibiza. Beyond this, however, he travelled the world solo, rolling out his wares everywhere from Las Vegas' Electric Daisy Carnival to TomorrowLand in Belgium.

On the release front, he holds a record of never having had an EP outside of the Beatport Top Twenty, a fact that's not been missed by the likes of Moby and Paul van Dyk, who've both called on Jon for a remix.

This week's podcast relives Jon's January debut at The BPM Festival in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, with two hours of techy tutelage.

"Claptone is a man of mystery. Of course there are countless anonymous DJs hiding behind everything from angry-face cardboard boxes to giant cassette tapes. But Claptone takes the enigma game to the next level—not only does he flit around in a gold, pointy bird mask straight out of G-Force: Guardians of Space, he also claims to embed an entire "universe of secrets" into his sounds. Not sure what that means... maybe spectogram images a la Aphex Twin? Also, in an interview from earlier last year, he said certifiably batshit stuff like, “Over the years I’ve learned to affect every being on earth and to synchronize the noises and sounds (they produce). With my magic wand I now bring to life a universal orchestra and direct the world’s unique soundtrack.” Which is… awesome?" (Vice Thump)

Actually, we think it’d be pretty chill if he took the reigns on the “the world’s unique soundtrack” and made it sound a little more like this velvety, floor-shaking, party-starting, spooky, hypnotic house track GHOST he delivered us on the back of a singing Alec Ounsworth from Indie Rock Band CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY YEAH.

Since his first EP debuted in 2010, Ross Evans has been building a steady catalogue of solid releases on labels such as Get Physical, Saved Records, Cocoon Recordings, and Cécille Records, just to name a few.  Having already attained widespread respect from DJs around the world in just a few short years, Ross has managed to firmly establish his name within the community of electronic dance music.
His newest EP on Mobilee’s little sister Leena Music is another intriguing chapter in Ross Evans’ story.  True to his signature style with roots in House while adding a Techno flair, melodic undertones, and just enough funk to keep it all tightly woven together, Ross Evans has delivered another solid release.

The title track “Caliente” starts the magnificent journey; its pounding kick drum is sure to make any club roar with excitement and energy but never loses its feel-good House music vibe.  Next on our journey, we reach a more melodic detour with “Part Of The Dream,” a little softer than the title track it takes us to an imaginary dream land with melancholic synth lines and soft whispers that lead us to  “Walk Of Shame” another melodic trip but this time less dreamy and more driving with a funky bassline that adds just enough attitude to keep us moving. After taking us this far on our adventure, our final stop is, “Asylum,” a safe haven where you can feel warm and secure. A place where we can decompress from our recent adventure through a land of excitement and diversity.

Affkt is one of the key names in the Suara's history. Not only for been the mastering engineer of the label since a couple of years, but for his great contribution to our catalogue. Remixes, EPs, tracks on compilations or Showroom releases, this awesome Spanish producer is not a newby in our headquarters. He's probably one of the most eclectic producers of the current techno/house scene thanks to his unique ability to do big dancefloor bombs and blow your mind with infinite melodies and emotive beats. To be honest we prefer the 2nd option. Actually we really love Affkt's introspective and poppy tunes. And that's what he offer us "Jakla" and "Aoub": beautiful and emotive stuff. What Affkt's does best in our opinion. Two German deep tech house stars like Gorge & Tube & Berger are on the remix duties.
