In spring 2016 SoulBrigada mastermind Alex visited the brilliant XJAZZ Festvial in Kreuzberg | Berlin. Apart from seeing live concerts from artists & musicians like Cymande, Ed Motta, Mop Mop and many others he found of course a lot of time for some extensively diggin' trough Berlins record stores and flea markets. Although there's electronic music everywhere, Berlin is a real digger paradise for music any couleur.
As you may have noticed in our mixtapes & livesets we love this diversity and aren't limited to a specific genre. Because there's so good music out there!

Many moons back I mixed music upon my 1's and 2's regularly and I loved it! then kids appeared in my life and this past time slipped from my grasp (too knackered to stay up late).
Now the world has sent us all to our rooms to think about what we have done, so I dusted of the turntables and cracked my arthritic fingers and tried to throw a few pieces of shindiggery together for your ears to enjoy..... Maybe this will be the start of joining my old DJ partner Matt of Fajita Funk behind the Dj desk or ill just have a cuppa tea and nice biscuit and stay in?

“Cumbia” in its original version was included in Empresarios’ 2011 debut album, Sabor Tropical, and it’s already been remixed by Nickodemus in a memorable version that was released digitally even before the album came out. So what’s the need for yet another remix eleven years later, you might wonder?

Well, for starters, “Cumbia” is a dope track, one of Empresarios’ best, and DJs keep playing it in their mixes as if it’s brand new. But mainly, The Gaff (a Canada-based DJ and break-beat connoisseur, who also happens to be from D.C.) gives it a whole new unexpected twist. Gaff takes the track in a dubby direction and adds sampled vocals in Spanish, turning it into something completely different and definitely worth a spin.

The Gaff has been hosting "Thursday Anything Goes" live streams on Twitch for over a year and built up an impressive following.
