Flowey is the Mettaton replacement. This flowery bud definitely wasn't trying to be YOUR best friend. But if you're willing to forgive them, they're willing to start off small. Legend had it that this flower would bring salvation upon the Underground, but it appears salvation may have to wait a bit longer.

Flowey reveals here to Frisk (and potentially Chara) and Asriel that he is in fact the late king of the Underground, Asgore. This is something he kept from Asriel out of shame and fear. Being brought to life by the royal scientist only to find himself stuck in a flowery vessel, no sign of his wife... he couldn't bear to tell Asriel. So he simply acted as a friend. As the next closest thing Asriel would ever have again to a sibling.

===== NOTES =====
After bringing comfort and relief to the entrapped SOULs, there of course remains one last being to calm down. Endogeny wasn't aware of what absorbing the souls would do to it. Endogeny didn't know any better. All Endogeny wanted to do was to cause some mischief. It's still unbelievably scared of what it's become.

With the help of your friends...
You find a way to soothe Endogeny.

Apologies to anyone who was hoping for some kind of DOG/GOD joke for the title(s), for the contexts I had in mind I couldn't quite get it to work.

Asriel takes the role of Alphys, and Flowey takes the role of Mettaton. Flowey -- who has previously revealed himself to be the late King of the Underground reincarnated -- is still convinced that the reincarnation of his wife is out there somewhere.

On Alphys' request, Flowey was asked to make sure Asriel would never go into the true lab -- Alphys' underground research facility, where she created Flowey, as well as where her experiments led to the Amalgamates taking the forms they do now. But with Asriel knowing his secret, he had to know. He had to find out what else Alphys was hiding in there.

Some of Alphys' failed experiments in regards to bringing back the dead were... very unstable, to say the least. Alphys had used a bunch of different flowers to try and distinguish her experiments a bit, all of which could be found in the garden where the king and queen had come to pass. As their dust had mixed, so would the eventual reincarnations Alphys would produce. Flowers that would bicker with themselves, that would practically tear themselves apart... Horrifying sights, unsurprisingly.

===== NOTES =====
Undyne is the Asriel replacement. After having spent years on a pseudo mental health retreat, doing the Underground equivalent of going out in the woods for a while, she's spent a lot of time training, becoming stronger, so that one day, when she returns and takes her rightful place as empress -- until the young prince is old enough to take over -- she can wipe the smirk off any human that comes her way.

When Asgore and Toriel had passed away, Undyne was elected to take over the throne while they waited for Asriel to grow old enough to take over himself. She stayed in this position for a while, but the grief was already a lot to bear. It was when Alphys took off, leaving little behind beyond a note in which she apologized profusely for leaving the way she did, that Undyne no longer felt fit to rule over the Underground, and left as well, leaving Papyrus in charge in her stead.

Years have gone by, and Undyne feels as though she's had far enough time to recover. She finally makes her way back to the throne, ready to take her spot, but notices voices coming from around the barrier. She goes to investigate... and sees everyone gathered together, alongside a human. TWO of them, even. Their ticket out of the Underground.

A Dark Place 2 - Palace

Monster Mix is an Undertale AU made by a friend of mine back in 2016-2017. They've unfortunately since left the Undertale SoundCloud scene, but I still look back on this AU rather fondly. We've gone through numerous attempts of reiterating the AU, but the approach I'm taking here is having it based heavily on the oldest versions of the roles we had decided on. While the newer ones were definitely very cool too, it doesn't feel right to do that new take without them on board.

The roles will be revealed as time goes on, but there's a decent chance they're already known to quite a handful of you.
