Hi folks… As winter draws near and the gloomy skies approach here in Portland, I made this mix with the season in mind. From the hypnotic vibe of Prurient and Rrose, to the pounding stomp of Raiz, and the 909 driven goth-punk of Røsenkøpf, there is plenty of post Halloween darkness to go around. Fear not though, there are a few optimistic moments peaking through those clouds. Ian O'Donovan's superb remix of "Goodlife", Jon Gurd and Joel Alter bring the Detroit sound to the table to funk things up. Anyways, hope you enjoy the mix and thanks so much for listening!

Stephan Hinz returns to Second State once again, painting the canvas of silence with his masterstroke of imposing drums and vicious hooks. 'Venom' is Hinz' latest offering and comprises four incredibly massive tunes which perfectly showcase his evolving sound of Techno's best in peak time pandemonium.
The title track 'Venom' kicks off the EP with a devilish throbbing groove while mischievous organ stabs rise and fall generating an impeccable balance between tough and playful. 'Primal' follows up with a more devious style where relentless percussion and sinister synth stabs culminate into absolute debauchery. [BIRDFEED EXCLUSIVE]  We received this demo of Steady Rock from Bruno Furlan, who emailed us excited about a brand new artist he recently discovered and knew we would too. Claude tested it out the biggest way possible—by opening his set at Dirtybird Campout West Coast with it. 

Steady Rock just so happened to be at the festival and heard his track being played, and the next day he ran into Claude at one of the many Campout activities and told him that was his song. Claude signed it right there, and now here it is for you.

And that is how things happen sometime.

Having started my bi-monthly mixtapes back in 2012 I just realised Mixtape 0118 marks the SEVENTH year of my mixtape series! I started pushing mixtapes SEVEN YEARS ago, that's kinda madness! What a journey I've been on in those seven years. 

To the people who have been listening since day dot, to the people who have only just started listening and everyone in between thank you! My mixtape's are my 80 minute journey of music, my way to explore, express and share my passion. From all sub genres of house music to my outro's which usually go deep and downtempo, another kind of music I listen to religiously.

This mix contains 17 tracks that I'm feeling and as always from a variety of genres. I'm rinsing some of these bangers on the dance-floor right now and the others I'm just absolutely in love with.

Searching for the music and then making them literally takes me days and days but mixtape making is something I really love to do. I hope you enjoy them as much as I love making them!

Our 30th chapter comes as a prestigious and unmissable pack that renders homage to a past EP of the Sudbeat factory: Japanese Snowbell by Hernan Cattaneo and Soundexile. This release has a very particular flavour and it is composed of two tracks that will also be playlisted in Hernan Cattaneo's new compilation for Renaissance.The first track of the EP is a remix signed by one of the most talented producers of the global electronic scene, a name that has been part of the Sudbeat family since its dawn and that boasts releases on the best labels out there: the Tel Aviv born Guy J. Once again his unique and personal touch is easily recognizable thanks to a solid swinging groove in which background oriental melodies rise naturally and fluently up until a dreaming breakdown in which energies seem to soften. But it's just an illusion. The drop is behind the corner, ready to make this hymn-like melody explode in a way you won't easily forget.On the B side, Hernan Cattaneo and Soundexile refresh their original track slowing down the beat and creating a syncopate rhythm, perfectly fitted with the original main melody and enhanced by a hot bass line with an acoustic touch, the warmth of which creates a unique atmosphere in this downtempo track that once again proves Hernan Cattaneo's and Soundexile's great skills in the studio.
