The beginning of this song is the Gayatri Mantra - a sanskrit chant that basically means "you are the source, please illuminate my heart".  It's a prayer for enlightenment and is chanted by millions of people daily, usually I think at sunrise and sunset.
One evening, at a period in my life when I was burnt out and desperate, I was in that place when I was too tired to sleep and too tired to do anything else.  I decided that playing guitar would make me feel better.  I chanted the gayatri mantra for about 20 mins and then a thought occurred to me - if the source could illuminate my mind in plain english that I could understand what would it say?
The english words in the song are the answer that I received.
I'm so glad this song resonates for so many people, it just shows me our hearts are all the same...
