Big excitement this week as we welcome Bintus to the GF series. He runs the lauded Power Vaccuum label founded 10 years ago which has been graced with releases by EDMX, J. Tijn, Objekt, Mark Broom, as well as many others including the raw and uncut acid-based work from himself including classic cust like 'Drink Ye From The Acid Chalice' and 'Advanced Fuel'. Whether it's his more known moniker or his Italo-focussed  Binary Chaffinch, the veteran producter has spread his musical gospel across staple labels such as Killekill, Shipwrec, Bedouin Records, and many others.

Friday Island is back with its penultimate release of the year from cross-border prog duo Pete B & Rianu Keevs, featuring stunning remixes from Dowden and Andrés Moris. Pete and Rianu have been smashing it this year with high-charting releases on Prognosis, Critical Elements and JourneyDeep, and this release is bang on the sound we’re trying to push here at Friday Island.

First up is the original mix of ‘Unfamiliar Place’, a deep, dark and moody 4am heads-down vibe inspired by labels like Zero Tolerance and Plattenbank, combining growling bass, eerie pads and ominous vocals to devastating effect.

Next up is a remix from rising star and production genius Dowden who delivers an absolute monster of a tune, departing from his usual deep and melodic vibe with a darker mood that stays faithful to the original but adds raw, gritty bass, heavy percussion and an edgy detuned synth that absolutely slaps.

Finally, Argentinean prog producer Andrés Moris offers his interpretation – a driving, techy track that maintains the eerie, dark mood but takes us more into sci-fi territory with an aggressive robo bass and groovy drums guaranteed to lift the energy on any dancefloor.

Friday Island is a new progressive house label inspired by the magic of the early 2000s but with an eye firmly on pushing the future of the sound. Friday Island’s mission is to make music for dark sweaty rooms and those cosmic 3am dancefloor moments when you forget where you are.
