On "No Oud"  Israel’s most influential digging duo, Radio Trip, strip down the classic “Neimat Pop Oud”,  itself a fusion of funk and rock with traditional Mediterranean styles by 70s pioneers Lehakat Tzliley Ha'oud, into a deadly pairing of bass and cavernous drums. 

Radio Trip wrote the book for generations of record collectors and hip hop producers to follow when it comes to digging and sampling obscure Israeli and Yemenite funk and psychedelic grooves. In turn they influenced the next generation of musicians who as a result looked further back into their own musical heritage, at least as much as the usual American and British influences.

"No Oud" is the flipside to “Oud Two", another take on “Neimat Pop Oud”, by Mediterranean psychedelic surf band,  Les Dynamites, on the 13h edition on Batov Records’ essential Middle Eastern Groove 45s series. 

Released on April 3rd on vinyl and digital, “Oud Two” and “No Oud” are destined to inspire aspiring belly dancers, break dancers and any curious music lovers interested in diving into the seductive grooves of Israel’s ancient cities.

Kieron Boothe is a British rapper and Illustrator hailing from East London. ‘No Regrets’, produced by Nikhil Beats, is the third single from his upcoming EP ‘Views From The Bottom’ (07.10.) and is accompanied by a music video directed by Kieron’s longtime creative partner Modu Sesay. Single artwork by the man himself.

Away from the rest of the herd, Kieron is thriving in his own lane as he makes his distinct stamp on the UK Rap scene. Kieron showcases his range with the downtempo single, bridging the gap between Alternative Rap, Lofi and Jazz, ‘No Regrets’ combines smooth samples with reeling lyricism and further demonstrates his ability to write personally yet playfully. 

“‘No Regrets’ is me reflecting and thinking about my journey so far, the good the bad and not regretting anything along the way. ‘There’s no gain without pain’ is saying it’s all part of the journey, keep your head down and keep proving people wrong...”

Raised in Newham, East London, with family ties in Jamaica (his grandfather is a cousin of reggae legend Ken Boothe), Kieron started rapping at the young age of 11, first emerged on the scene in 2012 and has dropped a total of seven projects since. Not one to shy away from collaborations Kieron has worked with the likes of KeepVibesNear, ebdl, Nikhil Beats and Morgan Lorelle who all compliment his experimental style. He has further contributed to the first volume of The Silhouettes Project (his song “No Peace” has generated over 3 million streams). What many might not know is that Kieron’s creative flair doesn’t stop at music, he’s also an applauded illustrator with co-signs from the likes of Idris Elba, KSI and Giggs to name a few. Graduating in Graphic Design from the University of the Arts London has given Kieron the advantage of being able to produce branding and marketing material for his own releases as well as other artists including Jords, Shae Universe and V9, Kieron's days are split between music and drawing with his best work being creating when he lets things flow freely.

Bokoya is a four-piece jazz/hip-hop band from Cologne who plays improvised beat music. Like a four-headed human drum machine, Bokoya improvise, shape, and develop beats in the electric field of repetition and variation. It's impossible to put a tag on Bokoya's music. BADBADNOTGOOD, Dilla, Krautrock, Ambient and dub might work as rough reference points for the music but don't do it justice. After a sling of releases on Wadada Records, Bokoya are now signed to Melting Pot Music. “Städterboy” is their fourth and final single before the release of their album “Hausensession” on October 14th.

“Hausensession” will be available as digital album and Gatefold 2LP.

Rising Dutch producer Afroham releases ‘Online’, his final single before the release of debut EP ‘Quantum Love’. The 26-year-old musician from Rotterdam is fusing neo-soul, lofi and hip-hop in his very own style and fashion. ‘Online’ features Swiss singer Djemeia, best known for her work with Melodiesinfonie and Slum Village. 

On ‘Quantum Love’, Afroham (and a close group of musical friends) addresses love and rejection in the digital age, topics Millennials and Gen Z are oh so familiar with. Appropriately, Afroham and singer Ginge (who appears on two tracks) first met on Tinder and started dating. But instead of becoming a couple they ended up writing songs together. Further guests on ‘Quantum Love’ include producers/musicians Cocabona, Ian Ewing, Birocratic and Misha (all household names on the international beat & lofi scene). 

Born Nathan Avraham, Afroham's artist name is a playful take on his surname and his hairdo. His superpowers also include creating visual art via video and 3d animation (despite being colourblind). Afroham has directed and animated a full-length movie that accompanies the release of the EP and its three singles. The artwork for all four releases comes from Parisian artist MC Blue Matter who in turn was inspired by the “Quantum Love” film when he worked on the covers. 

Afroham has released a sling of successful singles on labels like Steezyasfuck and Chillhop (where he also works during daytime). His current playlist has music from artists like H.E.R., SiR, J. Dilla, Men I Trust & Mndsgn.
