I propose you my personal interpretation of the music of a survival video game "The Long Dark - Wintermute -" composed by Cris Velasco and Sascha Dikiciyan, in which we embody a pilot who crashed into the icy nature of Canada and who must fight for his survival after a global that plunged the world into a new ice age. We are alone in the world and in the cold.
I arranged my own version of this music on piano and violin and made a video on the theme of survival and cold ... to refer to this video game ...
I have not played yet but it was my husband who tested it and asked me to make an arrangement at the piano because he found this theme very beautiful and dramatic.

Je vous propose d'écouter mon interprétation personnelle de la musique d'un jeu vidéo de survie «  The Long Dark  - Wintermute –«  composée par Cris Velasco et Sascha Dikiciyan où l'on joue un pilote qui s'est écrasé dans la nature sauvage glacée du Canada qui doit lutter pour sa survie après une catastrophe planétaire ayant plongé le monde dans une nouvelle période glaciaire. On est seul au monde et dans le froid. 
J'ai arrangé ma propre version de cette musique au piano / violon et réalisé une vidéo sur le thème de la survie dans le froid...pour faire référence à ce jeu vidéo...
Je n'y ai pas encore joué mais c'est mon mari qui l'a testé et m'a demandé de faire une interprétation au piano car il trouvait ce thème très beau et dramatique.

The Long Dark Theme

I found this track in my archives recently was done a long time ago......I do not write many love songs, not a very good writer of love songs ..This song was  written by William Bell an American singer and songwriter , also covered by loads of artists globally  , however ,this my "own" version . ..This was "one of the 1st song" I posted on SC maybe 10 yrs ago or more but i took down all my songs in 2016  now obviously its uploaded again ......... Let Go of that Echo

This song first entered my mind while I was comparing translations of the poetry of the remarkable Song dynasty poet Li Qingzhao.

	The attraction I have to Li Qingzhao's work is twofold - firstly: the sheer power of her expression, which speaks to me through each and every translation (some translations being so different that I often fail to recognize them as being the same poem) - secondly: her “Ci” poetry, is, for all practical purposes, songwriting.   “Ci” poetry began as lyrics to be sung to tunes both popular and original, not unlike the “12 bar blues” or “rock and roll” songs of the modern world.

	The imagery used in this song largely comes from her Ci poem “Banana Trees”, but should in no way be thought of as a translation - I do not pretend to have that kind of scholarship or talent.   It is, at best, a re-working of theme and image for a contemporary context.

	I do not know the original source of the cover art I have used here, but I found it at http://www.chinesetimeschool.com/en-us/articles/li-qingzhao/.   There are no extent images of Li Qinqzhao from her own time.

Vincent van Gogh passed away July 29th, 1890,
“Vincent’s Letter” was released July 29th, 2020

I figured there’s no better time than 130 years later…

When I was very young, I had dreams about his paintings. 
 His paintings inspired a deep love in me for art at an early age, and I wanted to be a painter like him

 Music won me over, but I remember being about 10 or so - when I first started playing music a lot - and I promised this self-portrait painting of Van Gogh that I’d write a song (or several) for him that a lot of people would hear.  Yea I made a verbal promise to a painting.  
It wasn’t the first or last time...  I was a weird kid.

The funny thing is?  This isn't even Van Gogh, as I much later found out.  It's "Dr. Gatchet", who was a physician who was treating Van Gogh.  Vincent painted him, and they actually look a lot alike!  But I made the promise to this painting, so here it is

I deeply recognize the disparity in ways natural and human disasters affect different groups of people and the need for greater equality of care. I also recognize that I live with many privileges that others do not have. And with these recognitions, I still believe there is space for us all to have a gratitude practice while passionately endeavoring for positive change.  

I am grateful for all the accumulated creativity and work of our ancestors that lead to the eventual creation of the internet and SoundCloud which has enabled us to remain artistically connected during this period of increased physical isolation.

Firstly on easy listening 6/4 bars, I cut some notes out of the main theme so as to give it dynamism, and finally obtained a prime amalgam of 17 quarter notes. I hid any recognizable thing in the accompaniment, and for the organic lines (voice and guitars) I tried the strong rhythm would not fix too much the melodies, first paying a lot of attention, and finally ... just letting me go.

Wallowing in the warmth of lower mids and melancholic melody.
Recorded, mixed and mastered on a Tascam DP 32 Portastudio using vintage gear gathered over many years.


Take a large bucket. Add a pint of Neil Young, a pinch of Glen Hansard. Wack in a tea spoon of Damien Rice, then an ickle bit of Tom Mcrae. Shove in a hand full of Mike Scott, a heaped table spoon of Neil Finn and a large dollop of Conor J. O'Brien. Mix with a big stick then strain through an old sock. Pour. What you have is a little bit of Mr C.

Hello good people of the cloud.
I play everything in real time and record and master on a Tascam DP 32 Portastudio. Although three of the older songs on here where recorded on a 8 track tape recorder through an old seck analogue desk.
No pc's are used or abused in the process of me music making. I love tactile recording. Switches, faders, pots and buttons. Mouses are for computers and eating cheese. No Mac, Daws or Windows, Midi or overused plugins. And no automated mixing, compromise being a large part of my final sound.
