At The Crossroads

Little is known about this freaky duo whose sound straddles opposing polarities, merging organics and synthetics, joining traditional textures with futuristic finish. These are sample-licious tracks that also feature original vocals and raw analog synths. They are noisy but clean, rough but smooth, soft AND crunchy.  

On one hand, it's mad-cap multicultural disco funk as on Si Jambo (translated loosely as 'ALL GOOD') and 2Tac Onana, and on the other it's cybernetic weirdness and italo-inflected electro with 'Non-Binary Joys on the Venus Holodeck' and 'Czary Mary,' which sounds like it could be the flip-side to Sharivari.  

In between this binary divide is 'Something For the Mind,' a brilliant piece of pop music that springs lightly into your brain with catchy bleeps, incredible vocoder, and a beat guaranteed to get the braindance party started.

Growing Bin burst into 2018 with a bang, crash and symbol splash, uniting a premier pair of per- cussion obsessives for a supernatural mission into the heart of the rhythm.
Dressed in the pitch black of Düsseldorf stands Wolf Müller, master of the tropical drums and se- ven time Salon Des Amateur breakdance champion. Repping Cologne and Berlin is Niklas Wandt, Germany’s funkiest drummer and a mixed musical artist as adept in experimental jazz as demen- ted Euro dance. Standing toe to toe in a no holds barred, no drum unstruck groove contest, these two titans will make you swing your pants like a Crash Bandicoot victory dance...so stretch out and step in to ‚Instrumentalmusik von der Mitte der World‘.
Taking to their task with the joyful abandon of two big kids getting creative with the Kindergar- ten music tray, Müller & Wandt marry dripping electronics, Froesean pads and rubber-limbed basslines with tribal polyrhythms, C2 claps and Indonesian shakers - and that‘s only on the A1. Comprising of three trance-inducing epics, a handful of medium-sized movers and a couple of freeform interludes, this dynamic double pack could almost pass as a lost Library masterpiece; but our mind guides go Furthur, fusing esoteric funk and free-jazz freak-out a truly transportive experience. Prepare to enter a world of techno totems and neon skulls, shades of Yello and excel- lent birds. Within these grooves lies a transdimensional pathway between the Temple of Doom, the Twilight Zone and De Palma‘s Paradise, brought to life in a shamanic rite.
Forget the healing frequencies of Growing Bin‘s ambient outings, this time we‘re dancing for mental health.

Wolf Mueller & Niklas Wandt - Welcome Zum Paradies (10:55) snippet

On side-A, Nicola Cruz tracks Apnea and Marea blend dembow and soca rhythms with modular music, leaving space for these harmonics to create dance patterns. Both are a duality of ideas that have travelled across the oceans, from Africa to South America, and back, reinforcing the idea of accentuation in music, rather than the usual straight forward dance structure. These are songs that evoke a primitive feeling, crafted on a contemporary head.

On side-B, Pigmalião tracks B2 and Ocrânimo explore acid lines and syncopated rhythms for darker dance floor environments in distinct BPMs sealing a proper b-side storytelling for the release.

@RichardRossa 's Stockholm based label Tom Tom Disco has become synonymous with quality and a home for spaced out, tribal disco that has gained legions of fans across the globe. Whether hosting a stage at festivals like Fusion or their music playing at intimate underground venues, the labels sound acquires the most discerning of electronic music enthusiasts and has a life of its own.

Recently we collaborated with the label and a selection of the Tom Tom Disco family to support Ballroom Blitz and Palestinian Radio Alhara to raise money for those most affected by the explosion in Beirut. Over the course of the coming week we're delighted to share the sets during this radio event via the Sinchi Channel.
