Duro is honored to present the birth of the “Baba” brotherhood. During the last pandemic year, Rina traveled from Tel Aviv to Portugal, where he met Switchdance. After some trips around the beautiful city of Lisbon, plates and plates of hummus and samosa, a visit to pick up raspberries at a field that used to be a medicinal cannabis farm and lots of hours in Switchdance's studio, 'Baba Music Vol. 1' was alive.

The journey initiates with "Reak" or "empty" in Hebrew; the cut refers to a state of consciousness where there is nothing in the brain. Playful percussion, acid basslines mixed with digitally distorted synthesizers create the sensation of breaking out reality, an experience blended with algorithms, binary codes and atomized sounds where it is hard to distinguish the realness. A roar to all the Babas around the world to gather on the dance floor.

Next comes the Hebrew version of "Give Way",a cut that narrates the moment when you are in a high state of mind and try to describe the process to get back to reality. On this first version Rina takes control of the vocals. It’s followed by the Portuguese version where the duo worked with vocalist Abrão. An alternative version with deep and resonant bass, a synthesized voice, electric and acid melodies, and distant pads run through the space.

To consummate the brotherhood with an embellishment, master Jonathan Kusama came up with two versions of "Give Way". The first one is an energetic cut with a flickering and harsh bass, mixed with mind-bending and unhinged synthesizers. For the second version Kusama brings up a futuristic and dystopian dub masterpiece, with distorted bass lines, shady vocals and liquid percussion.

Opening with an irresistible beat and percussion samples along with warm analog synths on lead and bassline duties, this is a track indebted to afrojazz with an unmistakable house feeling but in Red Axes’ trademark style of course, enhanced by Abraõ, the lush portuguese crooner heard on several of the duo's previous productions for I'm a Cliché.

Israel’s hottest export follow up excellent EPs on Hivern and I’m A Cliché with a 3-tracker for the global psychedelic cult of Multi Culti.

Tel Aviv’s Red Axes are one of the most exciting new acts in dance music, with rich sound that is musical, deep, trippy and organic, while remaining precise and lethally effective in the club. The range in their sound is impressive, their talent unmistakeable. They are one of our favourite artists of the year, and this latest record is one of their best yet.

Lead track 'Waiting for a Surprise’ builds around a mid-tempo disco bassline, with tough percussion, and rugged synth stabs, but it’s the eerie and unique sounding vocals of Brazilian collaborator Abrao that bring everything together. This one is a guaranteed bomb for building up, tearing down, peak time or chilling out… an outstanding track in every sense, the kind that force trainspotters to the DJ booth to discover what’s playing. Next up, ‘Hope’ kicks off with resonant, delayed toms, adding a haunting howl and synths before dropping into a wild, clanging, carnivalesque frenzy. It’s understated, but advanced, with an interesting arrangement that really opens up in the second half. Finally, 'The Metal Bender’ slows the tempo but ups the vibe into an elated, slow-burning space-disco anthem. Fantastic stuff!

Melbourne’s Kris Baha, fresh from launching his Power Station imprint, offers a stripped down remix of ‘Waiting for a Surprise,’ with a heavy, industrial-influenced groove that wanders into the deep, dark end of party strasse.

We kickstart 2016 in a deep and dark manner with an EP from south of France coldest producer daWad. 

daWad is a French dude from Marseilles who basically likes it dark and bassy. And sexy…In a slightly pervy way. French quoi. 

A regular of Marseilles infamous club “La Dame Noir” (think Miami Vice meets Twin Peaks with a south of France accent) he brings us three cavernous pieces kicking off with “Catharsis”, a romantic / new wave chugger of a track built around singer Catherin voice. 
Slow, dreamy and sweaty “Catharsis” develops over a sexy bass line to reach a quasi pop, goosebumps inducing climax. Imagine 1987 Depeche Mode remixed by Scratch Massive and you’re close. 

Second track “Home21” speeds things up, and is most probably influenced by numerous peak time experiences at La Dame Noire. More techno inclined, the track is a relentless machine bleeping and screeching with minimalist synth lines surfing on a a bed of electro percussions and a New Orderish bass line. That’s probably why it’s coming out on Days Of Being Wild. 

3rd track “Land Of None” is reminiscent of industrial / EBM bands of the early 80’s, with its piercing analog snare and robotic groove. A more experimental piece of music, the approach here was to do something more dissonant and oppressive. Mission accomplished, we’d say it wouldn’t have been out of place on one of Trevor Jackson Metal Dance compilation. 

To close the EP we have Nhar remix of “Catharsis”. 
Another French producer that we like very much here at Days Of Being Wild, Nhar brings his unique blend of airy, spacious sounds to the title track. Melodic and trippy his remix is epic and intimate at the same time, a superb reinterpretation of daWad’s darkness.

Mozhgan has been doing just that. With her stylized approach to dark discotheque-ing, this San Francisco based artist has quickly stormed our favorite dancefloors across the city with her mystical synthesizer heavy sounds and resiliently optimistic black-heart. Her previous effort for the Honey Potcast spread like fire and became one of the most listened to mixes we have had the pleasure to release. For her sophomore effort, Moz pulls out her ceremonial techno knife and impales listeners with 50 minutes of intensity. Also Sohn deutscher Musikwissenschaftler wurde Dr. Chimpanzee, vermutlich anfangs der 1990er, im senegalesischen Dschungel ausgesetzt, um sich die Kultur und Rhytmik der Affen anzueignen.
Nach einer längeren Reise, gelangte er schließlich nach Uganda und schloss sich dort einer Kleingruppe Schimpansen an, deren Führung er bald übernahm.
Im Kampf um die Vorherrschaft eines nahegelenen Terroriums, mit dem Anführer einer befeindeten Bande, wurde Dr. Chimpanzee schwer verletzt und konzentrierte sich von da an mehr auf die Ausarbeitung von Schlacht-und Schlafmusik für den eigenen Stamm.
Mit dem Erreichen der Virilität entdeckte er seine menschliche Seite , den Unterschied zu seinen vermeindlichen Artgenossen und es zog ihn immer mehr in urbane Regionen.

Dort erlente er die menschliche Sprache und promovierte letztenendes im Bereich Sound an der Mbarara University of Science and Technology.

Nach langen Jahren unter Menschen zog es ihn in seine alte, nie gekannte Heimat Deutschland und er lebt derzeit in Berlin.

I had made the vocal for this track almost two years and didn’t know what to do with it. It sounds like a bunch of cows participating in a Gregorian chant, and it didn’t fit ANYWHERE. Fast forward to 5 months ago, and I was playing around with the Ableton Push. It’s a brilliant improvisational composition toy, and while trying to understand dancehall riddims… I made the skeleton of the beat. On a whim I added the cow chant to it, listened to it once, and then showed up on Taylor’s doorstep with this weird sketch… but no where to go with it. Taylor, bless his heart, was completely unfazed at how strange everything was and took it to the next level. Outside of Golden Lotus, this song was the fastest one to come together.
