When we heard Pompeya for the first time and were told they were from Moscow, we were like: - What!? Are you kidding? This is probably the first Russian band singing in English with such a classy Brit touch and male vocal being very strong and sophisticated at the same time. They jestingly describe their style as “melodramatic popular song” and “Cheenese” is indeed a very dramatic piece with simple yet powerful composition and lyrics that really make BIG sense. The original is very well supported by a bunch of remixes each of which is unique on its own. An-2 & Samos come with a warm, relaxed and funky instrumental version which is followed by a blockbuster mix from Moscow disquo maestro Leonid Lipelis (an entirely perfect dance version of the original that could ever exist) and finally, for those few sirs and mesdames who are not yet aesthetically satisfied and who still find themselves seated while others jump and shout, here come D-Pulse with their ‘Paranoid’ mix that gathers the thunderclouds to the full darkness and - at the end - lets the revival sunbeams break through.

Born during a solar flare and raised on limited-run white labels, this is a musical project conceived somewhere between a broken Roland drum machine, reviving a lost album on a broken 2002 Macbook and a really intense conversation about the meaning of groove.
Our music is for people who’ve quit DJing at least twice but keep coming back because “the scene needs healing.” Think: Balearic lounge for astral projection. Disco, if it were curated by a sentient potted plant. Funk, but made entirely from field recordings of sandals on gravel. We emerged from the mist of a questionable sunrise set in 2009 (or maybe 2031—time is an illusion) with one goal: to make music that feels like a hug from a glitter-covered alien who once dated a member of Kruder & Dorfmeister.
We’ve had aliases. Too many. Some were successful. One was just a Wi-Fi password. This one, though...this is the one. It’s got layers. It’s cosmic. It’s nostalgic. It wears tinted glasses indoors and still buys the incredibly outdated musical format they call vinyl (or vinyls if you really want to piss the purists off). We like music that makes you dance, cry a little, then question your relationship with time. Funk? Essential. Melody? Always. Hand drums played by someone called “Moonrise Mike”? Whenever possible.
We don’t make music for sunrises and sunsets, we make music that thinks it is a sunrise but occasionally has an identity crisis and becomes a fog machine. In conclusion: yes, we take music seriously. But ourselves? Not so much. This is an ongoing experiment in sonic telepathy, ego death, and grooving responsibly. Join us. Or don’t. We’re honestly quite busy communicating with dolphins through MIDI.

Music For Dreams is releasing ‘Kenneth Bager’s Balearic Biscuits Vol. 2’, a new compilation of Balearic music, on Friday 8th April.

Featuring an eclectic tracklisting that embodies the adventurous spirit of Ibiza, the album has been compiled by Kenneth Bager, the colourful head honcho of Denmark’s music for Dreams label, which is the gold standard bearer for new Balearic and electronic music with its weighty vinyl output

All tracks have been carefully selected to find favour with any open-minded dancefloor and these include Dusseldorf's ‘Saloon De Amateurs’ resident Jan Schulte AKA Wolf Müller AKA Bufiman – ‘Basedrum Party’, a mix of funky tribal beats and strong percussion with some weird and wonderful synth stabs creating an original and special crowdpleaser - Kenneth's personal favorite record of last year. Other highlighted tracks include Ibiza DJ José Manuel’s ‘Macumba’, another African-influenced percussive groove, the track shifts direction half way through with the introduction of a Doors-style organ riff. Mehmet Aslan is on remix duties of ‘Mechanical Turk’ by Karpov Not Kasparov and his Turkish Bazaar roots shines through in the hypnotic and epic 9 minute musical journey.

Next up on the Clandestino lads' new label (think "the acid house Compo, Foggy & Clegg") is a return for the wonderful Coyote couple. On this mix, they bring in CHIDA, who takes the original, bright 303s and casts a darker shadow over the whole affair. Concrete bass kicks and hi-hats lead into some deep bass business, laser swipes, rewinds, and black disco toms. It's a much moodier and unsettling version, suited to basement brethren rather than big room Barrys. Layered with echoes and karate chop FX, it's worth fighting for.
