Cal Tjader was one of the hardest working musicians in Jazz who mastered countless instruments and rose through the ranks working with Verdadero Cuban and Afro-Latin musicians, deviating from the popular Exotica style of the times. When he finally came into his own in the Verve/Fantasy years, his creative talent was matched with sublime audio engineering delivering a crisp and unique sound. From the extended bongo rhythms to the soothing sounds of the vibraphone, Cal was a visionary who managed to bring a new attention to Latin music without compromise. The epitome of Latin Jazz can be discovered through this tribute mix to the Master Tjader.
