BIO:
Music producer and abstract artist Larmour is on a voyage into the spheres of electronic music and art - his mission: to explore points of convergence and reinterpret his experiences through his unique lens.
Visceral yet intelligent by design, his sound is a heady and intoxicating rush of future nostalgia that leans into moody eighties synth work, tight electro rhythms and euphoric old school breaks. This is music that dreams longingly of future worlds that never quite were. A place where the utopian sonic aspiration of the eighties and unifying rave vibes of the nineties collide with the dystopian electronics of today.

Surrounded by music in his youth, he would soak in inspiration from his father’s drumming, applying the syncopated rhythms to the jazz he was learning on Piano. His teacher was so enamoured that she would donate her piano to him - but meanwhile, he was becoming an avid curator too, creating mixtapes cut and pasted from local radio. The catalyst for his conversion to music producer would be a genre hopping DJ set from Bicep in 2013, which convinced a youthful Larmour that he too could juxtapose styles to create fluid yet emotively charged music. Soon, he was frequenting Liverpool clubs - soaking up sets from masters like Laurent Garnier, and returning to the studio to develop a sound inspired by excursions into nature and the immersive soundscapes of films such as Blade Runner.

With emotion his blueprint and evolution his philosophy, Larmour continually incorporates new strands into his technicolour palette. Whether that be ambient and left-field electronica or his passion for the brooding electro-tinged breaks, that saw monstrous release ‘Inside Out’ smash it’s way to the top of various charts and into the boxes of DJ giants such as Sasha. With a razor sharp ear for melody and love of eighties aesthetics his taste is undeniably on point but he cares little for fads, seeking to make timeless music inspired by his adventures across the Globe. His nomadic travels have seen him visit UAE, Lebanon, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Portugal in recent years, the diverse cultures having a huge influence on his approach and broadening his artistic vision.

For this first episode, Lebanese producer and DJ Liliane Chlela, who will be performing at Play 3 on Saturday, August 27, spoke with Malte Leander.

Ransom Note Recs. welcomes back Belfast producer Lunar Orbit Rendezvous (aka Gregory Ferguson) for a stellar revisit of the title track ‘Faith/Reason’ of his 2021 album. The textured landscape and ambient tapestry of ‘Faith/Reason’ are passed onto producer pals Fred und Luna, Yoann Pistermann and Flug 8, who were able to take the track through adventures of sonic intricacy and bewitching music production.

Kicking off is Fred und Luna’s hypnotic remix featuring Loreli Faso Lhatido’s voice. Fred und Luna (aka Rainer Buchmüller) “are two mannequins living in a fashion boutique in Karlsruhe, Germany. On live shows they are represented by Sugar Ray Buckmiller as Fred… and an always-changing Luna of his choice” (RA). Under the Fred und Luna alias, Rainer produces his trademark ‘eargasmic’ Elektrokraut/Krautelektro (as he describes it himself), made of repetitive rhythms blended with ambient soundscapes and ethereal melodies alongside some traditionally inspired Krautrock. Just like the words “Faith, Reason” fluctuating in a chuggy limbo of ambient suspense and repetitive bass guitar strings.

Next up, French-born Berlin-based multi-disciplinary artist Yoann Pisterman takes Faith/Reason through to celestial gardens of zen. The interweaving of drones and melodic elements, loops, and repetitive patterns, makes up the key traits of Yoann’s magical transportive sound that echoes a lot with Japanese ambient and New Age music of the 80s. This remix slows things down to invite the listener to linger at last.

Focus track and closer is Flug 8 (aka Daniel Herrmann)’s remix – a completing enhancer of the EP’s sonic direction. Flug 8’s upbeat driving ‘space’ techno cradles like a lullaby at dawn. Swirling melodies accompany the soaring drum kicks, swirling in infinite synths of hope and void. Indeed, Daniel’s unique soundscapes are dreamy additions to Lunar Orbit Rendezvous’s remixed work.

Martin Noise is a DJ / Producer from Buenos Aires, based in Barcelona, dedicated to the research and the experimentation of new sounds oriented to the dancefloor. He studied music production at Music School of Buenos Aires (EMBA) and he is owner of Playground Records with Kuunde and Moses.

Since he was a child his passion for music was evident, that's why when he became a teenager he started playing and producing different bands of rock, punk and post punk to decant in what would be his last project before focusing purely on electronic music, Blackinside which he record the Ep called "The Real". After the Blackinside separation he launched his career as a DJ and after some years playing he moved to Barcelona where he actually lives.

Nowadays in addition to Playground he is resident of the well-known club This Side UP and he is focused on his own productions, releasing music not only on Playground Records but also on Calypso, Hard Fist, Ombra International, Duro, Logical Records, Night Noise, Controlla and Lassi International.
