After giving us A Guide To Hellthier Lifestyle, Bjarki continues to provide with a conceptual companion mix to detox from the world’s ills, stitched with ironic infomercials and sarcastic self help tape skits. As Bjarki puts it: “It’s a wellness mix with a narrative that reflects the present moment. A snapshot in time, a map of the sounds and artists I keep returning to. Some of these tracks hold deep personal meaning, reminding me exactly why I’m drawn to music in the first place.”

Featuring a generous variety from the Throbbing Gristle extended industrial family, as well as Swedish composer Egil Kalman, Bjarki’s “relentless pursuit of wellness” runs from jaunty, psychedelically blurred 70s pop and early pioneering synthesiser musicians like Raymond Scott to the tangling guitar picks and acidic pulses of Biogen’s Sigur Rós remix, to Cyclone’s classic, euphoric bleep techno cut ‘A Place Called Bliss’ and the seminal Shackleton production 'Undeadman' reminding us everyone starts from point one. Ingeniously cunning and tongue in cheek as this mix is, there’s plenty of bliss in between Bjarki’s unreleased blistering rhythms.

Milan-based Piezo (@piezopz) sits at the heart of the current club sounds. He has long had an obsession with sound system music and that defines what he does today: mutant and beguiling club tracks with meticulous sound design and thrilling energy, heavy low ends and a real dose of UK influence from d&b to garage, grime and techno. He kicked off the year by dropping his genre-busting Ecstatic Nostalgia EP on our Dekmantel-UFO sub-label and now returns with a podcast that is just as fresh.

It's a futuristic mix of bleeping machines and lurching rhythms with bright synth designs and deep space ambience. Over the course of 90 minutes, the pace picks up and you're whisked along a variety of rhythms from broken to dubby, head spinning to minimal. It feels utterly spontaneous but is also a fully coherent mix from this restless innovator.

Bjarki Rúnar Sigurðarson is an artist in flux, slipping through definitions as easily as he does genres. His early output on трип suggested a clear trajectory—big-room techno, high-impact, and high-energy. But @bjarki has always been more interested in disruption. He loves veering off the beaten track.

Over the past decade, his identity has splintered across at least twenty documented personas (and perhaps some more hidden from the voyeur's view), each serving a vessel for the unpredictable. He functions in a space of humour and unease—shaping music that is erratic, raw, and wholly untamed.

And there is a lot of it—keyword: a lot. Bjarki doesn’t just release music; he floods the system. His latest album, 'A Guide to Hellthier Life', is a sharp, satirical dismantling of the wellness guru social media economy, where self-care is commodified and monetised at scale.

Stepping up to deliver IA MIX 389, the Icelandic producer extends that same critique—a surreal, self-aware meditation on the absurdity of performative well-being. Dark humour is nothing new for Bjarki, but here, his observations feel more honed, more biting, more necessary.

The mix itself is impossible to bracket, moving through states rather than styles—thoughtful, meditative, ridiculous, and deeply melancholic all at once. It’s a trip, in every sense. And, as always with Bjarki, it’s best not to ask where it’s going.

Many artists find comfort staking their claim to a scene or genre, but leaving specifics behind and embracing the grey areas between strands of electronic music has helped Emily Jeanne emerge as one of the shining lights of dance music’s new guard.

In fact, it’s those grey areas that Jeanne has always felt comfortable in. Historically a refuge for outliers in search of the esoteric, in 2024 dance music finds itself at a crossroads where maintaining a sense of the individual is harder than ever. Emily’s authentic approach to production and Djing, that pits broken beats in amongst more direct, dance floor material, IDM and Ambient derivatives can be seen as a direct reflection of the artist’s ever-shifting interior – and her comfort with a plural and undefined personal identity.

Indeed, Jeanne’s commitment to the craft itself has become her calling card. Allowing the process of experimentation to bleed into her club performances in terms of rhythm and tone –but maintaining a razor-sharp eye on quality control, Emily Jeanne weaves unique but cohesive sets as a DJ and delivers exhilarating exploits as a producer.

Her musical output including 2020’s Public by Default – and more recently, a pair of EP’s – released via Peder Mannerfelt’s much lauded eponymous imprint, is testament to this fact. In turn, each release also provides a marker in an ongoing process of personal and sonic development – charting a trajectory that can be seen stretching out into the future. Beyond her productions, a residency at Ghent’s Funke Club has allowed the artist a degree of world-building and an opportunity to stretch curatorial muscles. A regular show on Brussels’ Kiosk radio has provided the perfect environment to showcase the full breadth of her musical appreciation. As the new year unfolds, studio time meets an international touring schedule for an artist plotting a singular and personal path.

“For me, music has always been about journeys. Going inward. Digging so deep you steer away from anything that makes sense. All becomes chaos. All becomes one. All is you. 
This mix is a recent dream. A sleep twitch. I jump from one cloud to the other. I fall and submerge myself in another story. I run so hard but stay exactly where l was. Have we served our purpose?”
