Since the age of 14 Mat The Alien has been mixing , scratching and making mixes - beats , spanning many genres and styles but always having one thing in common - heavy beats and bass lines which appeals to a wide variety of crowds.
Growing up with his father owning a record store, led to Mat finding his love for crate digging and evolving into a beat and bass connoisseur. Mat’s Original music and Remixes are coming fast and furious , they have been featured on many T.V. shows , DVDs and webisodes . His Remixes for Nick Thayer, (Featured on Diplos Mad Decent Blog) , and also original music have received positive feedback and plays from some of the industry’s biggest names . Often referred to as 'The First US Bass Music label' , Muti Music has been pushing emerging and established genres of bass music since 2002.
Muti  Music = Medicine Music.
In South African English, the word "muti" is used to refer to all sorts of herbal medicine. It is derived from the Zulu/Xhosa word umuthi, meaning "tree," whose root is -thi. In Southern Africa, "muti" and cognates of umuthi are in widespread use in most indigenous African languages as well as in South African English and Afrikaans, which sometimes use "muti" as a slang word for medicine in general, or even as a term for 'good luck'.
