Ctrls joins for DifferentSound Podcast #161.

Copenhagen, Denmark born Dj and producer Ctrls, The Ctrls project was founded In 2012. From the first Token records release the presence of a highly individual sonic style was apparent and his fast paced and futuristic techno based sound has now been well established with a stream of respected music on labels such as Token Records, Earwiggle and Key Vinyl. A lifelong devotee of electronic dance music, DJ’ing and live performance are central for the project. This has resulted in many involved sets at globally notable venues such as Tresor, Fold, Berghain, Khidi, Fabric, Kit Kat, Fold and Club Drugstore in addition to a residency at Copenhagen’s purest electronic dance music venue: Ved Siden Af. The future heralds a wider scope as electro, breakbeats, noise and audio visual components are incorporated, as well as the physical Future Awkward and SafeCom event series.

He likes to experiment with electronics. His sets are on the one hand deep, dark and hypnotic sounds, and on the other overdriven industrial. The style he presents is a selection of sublime techno, drum & bass and experimental sounds. He is also a listener of such music as: post punk, industrial rock, trip hop, dark jazz, grime, hip hop. Initiator of the original Broken Tape podcast mini series and Dark Logic mixes.

Rhythm is a driving force of the universe. Originally from Poland, Slope Unit has debuted over a decade ago in the infamous club [M]etro Club back in his hometown, Białystok. Record-digging together with dedication to the rhythm drew his attention towards the wider aspect of sonic experimentation which pushed him to start producing his own material. After a few years of relentless mixing in Warsaw, he was looking for a more suitable place to unfold his musical journey, and London turned out to be the location. Hardware synthesizers were suddenly overshadowed by eurorack's universe, what was recycled later on for his recently released EP's on Modular Underground and Totentanz Recordings. He is a part of the Based On Lies showcase together with his partner in crime - Joanna (T A K A) discovered back in 2016 by Dazed & Confused and endorsed by Revive Festival 2019. Now returning to DJing, Slope Unit constantly amazes us with the immense energy of his sets and his uncompromising selections, claiming that pushing musical boundaries is his call of duty.

Gary Holldman who has been active on the scene for over a decade as a producer and DJ. His first 12' items were released on RELAX2000 and Ware. In 2015, together with a friend, they set up International Day Off (@internationaldayoff) a thriving label (working with Jacek Sienkiewicz, Michal Wolski and Sebastian Mullaert, among others) that specializes in sound spaces bordering on minimal and hypnotic techno. Since 2017, he has been releasing regularly on the International Day Off catalog and other labels. His music has been featured and reviewed by Mixmag, XLR8R, Magnetic Magazine, Decode Magazin and his tracks, thanks to their diversity, gain support and find their way into the cases of artists such as Sven Väth, Laurent Garnier, DVS1, Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann.

In 2023, together with Kuba Sojka and We Call It Voight-Kampff, they open Kantrasta Records (@kantrasta) which aims to create an intergenerational bridge in the techno scene. Gary Holldman is also a respected DJ, his music can be heard in many Polish clubs and at performances abroad, including in Paris, Tel Aviv and Bangkok.

Trans Timmermans his debut at the LVN club in Wrocław in early 2018. The next stop was a performance at the iconic Das Lokal, since which his group of fans is still growing dynamically, along with a clear trace that he leaves on the club map of Poland. The result of his activity were projects such as "Ibiza Millenium", "Popperboys pres.", "Aurōra", or now the event series / clothing brand KWAS (@raveinit) and the Syndykat project (@syndykat71). He also fulfills his musical mission as a co-host of the Strikt broadcast (@striktlabel) on the local Radio LUZ, where he tries to broaden the horizons of the audience with a digger sneak peek. From March 2022, a resident of the Ciało club (@klubcialo) in Wrocław. A lover of grooved, fast pace and energetic, emotional and hypnotic sounds. Apart from all varieties of techno, in favorable circumstances, he does not shy away from breakbeat, house or electro trips.

Maureen Raven is a techno producer and Dj based in Poland. A passion for unobvious sounds combined with uncompromising sounds they make that Maureen's performances are full of twists and turns. The artist focuses on modern and hypnotic sound filled with darkness. Since 2018 she has been a member of the Revive collective and has countless performances at top electronic music clubs in Poland and abroad. For a few years she performed and produced in a duo M&U and currently she is working on her own EP.
