The opening melody of this track has a breath of its own. My grandfather, Allan Cosio, had been in the hospital struggling with his lungs for a few weeks. The very afternoon he died, I played that melody out of absolutely nowhere. My fingers glided across the fretboard as they followed a song that guided them towards the way it wanted to sound, and the music shaped itself. Lolo's spirit was IN me that beautiful, beautiful afternoon, and I knew in that tranquil moment of relieving peace that I wasn't just breathing for one soul. Isn't that so pretty?

I played Lolo's song for his virtual wake the next week, and in that performance I found myself playing the chords to one of the main melodies from Hans Zimmer's Interstellar! And then I seeped my own song, called Light, into the mix. 

Light came to me the moment I picked up the electric-acoustic guitar in...February of 2021? My fingers found their place on the fretboard, making up chords and my right hand plucked a melody that was on one hand improvised in the moment, and on the other hand, it was a song I had in my heart for all of my life. I remembered that song from before I was even born, and let it course through my hands. 

This weekend, Papa gave me a guitar cable and an adaptor that connects the guitar to my laptop so I can try new effects! And this afternoon, just a day under 2 weeks after Lolo's soul took flight, I plugged it in and played around with some effects. After 2 hours of experimentation on Instagram Live, my phone died, but I kept playing. I decided to hit record. And this song came through me.

The song Lolo breathes through, the Interstellar anthem of love transcending the vast and fickle boundaries of space and time, the century melody of the Truth of my Light, and, at the 6:23 mark, the sound of Love itself. 

Spontaneous. Serene. Sibylline. Unshackled by linearity, simply flowing at all moments. Timeless. Unhindered by direction, just going where it pleases. Untainted by our notion of what it should look like, and just taking on whatever shape and body and sound and face and name it needs to take right, right now. 

That, dear, is love in its purest form; a shapeless, TIMELESS energy that takes on whatever shape it needs to. Holding all the duality in the world in the center of its cosmic hand and at the same time being merely the subject of it. Childlike in wonder and enthusiasm, yet as ageless as the darkness that stars fill. It sounds like nothing I would play in my life, ever. I would've thought this was Zane Carney taking a nap, but it was me. On one hand, it doesn't sound like me at all, and on the other, it has the soundless name of my essence stamped all over it. And I realized something.

Someone once said, "In order to say 'I love you,' you have to be able to say 'I.'". My love, what are we but vessels of love and light? Who am "I" if not a being of cosmic love? We are vessels looking for vessels. We are infinitely powerful because we have the ability to let the flow of love, the flow of all things, surge through our bodies and our minds, our eyes and our mouths and our breath. Maybe we don't do it all the time, but we have the POWER to do so. 

And so, from my soul to my brain, to the signals in my body that moved my fingers, to the way they kissed the frets and caressed the strings, to the flowing of vibration through the cables, through the laptop in front of me, into the earphones on my head, into my veins, surging through my blood and coursing through my being, then beaming out of my spine in an incomprehensibly radiant light, and now to you, in this song, I send you my love. And with it, the love of the whole UNIVERSE. I love you. Yes, you :) may this energy reach you in whatever shape you need it as, right now, and may all your love flow back to you.

I revisited an old voice memo ("Chord Progression August 16, 13 34 PM" on SoundCloud) and brought a new touch to it in one afternoon :) I'm proud of how this one turned out!

The harmonies are the sound my soul makes when I look at the pure embodiment of love itself and stand in her endless presence, grateful to have the heart to love her and cherish her. I love you <3

I've been active online lately! I have been on discord and a couple of people were confused about my living space. I live under a small makeshift tent. I have a solar bank that I use to charge a laptop but I do not have wifi or any other utilities. I found an abandoned upright piano and set up my base around that. I post whenever I go into town, which is more or less whenever I get hungry or need to mail something. Lately, there have been more industrial projects venturing into the natural beauty of the woods so I've been sending more letters than usual. Also from discord, some of you seem to think I've been displaced. While I appreciate the concern, this is how I choose to live my life and I do not intend to move into a more modern way of living at any point. I love reading your questions though!
