Sinking Imagination drifts on a peculiar 5/4 current, steeped in the airy hues of the Lydian mode. A chromatic harmonica threads through the mix alongside an African thumb piano, while a nylon-string guitar grounds it all with gentle warmth. The result is a mesmerizing tapestry, one foot in the everyday world and the other hovering just beyond our usual senses.

A simple, rather loose, jazz ensemble, and a simple message.
It seems as though the social and political turbulence is much like trying to paddle your own canoe - it's going to get rough and it will feel as though hope is lost, but don't stop and don't despair. Hope Floats.

The song was originally intended as a relationship muse, where two people are supposed to be paddling, together, in the same direction, but the boat keeps turning 'round and 'round. It takes courage to realize you can only control your own paddle and how you use it. It can be overwhelming and daunting, at times, and you may be inclined to abandon ship: don't.
