the track art is the torn up backside of one of my favorite basement chairs.  my cat verbal (who ain't here no more) would go to town on my basement furniture.  we had a deal, and for his part, he did a good job of leaving our upstairs stuff relatively unharmed.  the chair from the pic is honestly not all that comfy, but i miss my buddy...and when i sit there i like to pretend that he's behind me going to town keeping his shit sharp.

the song has nothing to do with my cat.  i wrote it for a friend.

there is another very different version of this song.  the music is much faster and completely backwards.  and the vocals are completely different.  i made a video if you want to watch :)

the acoustic guitar and bass lines were recorded on 4-track cassette.  i moved the tracks over individually to my laptop using audacity.  i did a ton of editing.  i then added the vocals and beatbox straight to audacity (using the 4-track as a vocal amp).

the first half of my pretzels page is pure 4-track recordings.  recently most of my recordings are much more like this.  some kind of weird in-breed of cassette and free downloaded multi tracker.

that's all.  i hope you feel bonus'd.  :D

Une à une, androgynes, créatures divines, elles arrivent en flottant, lueurs voilées de brume, elles ondulent en dansant avec leurs yeux couleur de lune, regard lointain la peau douceur de plume et des muscles d'airain, souples et longues lianes, chevelure d'algues diaphanes.

Vénéneuses, café vanille et caramel, drapées dénudées, taffetas, cuir et dentelles.

The Story: A girl and a boy meet one summer in the park where they immediately fall in love.  Jokingly they suggest that they'll meet again on this same day but twenty years in the future. Pretty funny, right?
Well now that day has come. What if he was serious? Maybe we really are supposed to meet...... Well, there's only one way to find out, right?

Bill's Note: True to form Melissa nailed this vocal performance in two takes! The high "classical" sounding parts were mic'd overhead. That type of vocal performance causes a lot of interference with a close mic'd setup due to the volume, mass of air and sound that is moved.
In this recording I tried to emphasize also Will's cymbal work which to me adds to the magical nature of this piece. 
The first seven notes are given to us by Serj Tankian and his "7 Note Challenge". That motif then returns to represent the passage of time. The chord progression is loosely based upon Irving Berlin's "What'll I Do" which really seems fitting considering the subject matter.
The place is "The Point" - a park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where the Allegheny and the Monongahela meet to form the grand Ohio River ...it is a place that I believe is magical and so I created this story.  
Well....The preceding message is for the musicians and historians out there. If you actually read this far then God Bless you! You are the mosty important people in the world to us.

Thanks everyone for listening and supporting and all you smiles, laughter, head bobs, swaying, toe tapping, and finger snapping. I appreciate it all! I am glad we are all still here after all these years and SC scares and alternate site distractions. 

This is another track I made many years ago. I made it audio bin style by rearranging baselines and guitar parts from old stems from Blankets. If my recollection is correct, I might have reused parts of “Falling Off (The Precipice),” which is currently set on private. It has been sitting on my hard drive asking to be released but I have been telling it no, you need to be patient and wait. Once I finally felt I could release it, it sounded old to me, lol. So Wou-Wou and Wizardshoes / AKA Ill Dub came to the rescue. They resuscitated it, fed it good food, and dressed it up real nice, and now it is ready to go! 

Big thanks to Wou-Wou and Wizardshoes for always being there for me! You guys rock!

A bit of sloppy slide played with rusty strings and birds in the background.  I just made up a drum part in garageband and then played whatever came to mind along with them. I was contemplating selling this guitar but thought I'd try a bit of slide in open D to see if it sounded any better than in standard tuning.
